Mine have definitely saved my arse from trees in tight trails. Need lockers to go and play somewhere I can scrape mine, 6+ inches of lift makes that difficult. I'm planning on 37's too.

Other than being a slow winch the XRC's are every bit as good and reliable as a Warn, and the warranty service is much better IMO. I just know way too many people with a clapped out warn that doesn't work and hard to get parts for, and ubber pricey if they can

I had an issue after 6 years with my XRC not staying engaged, yes, 6 years. Long out of warranty, Smittybuilt sent me the whole planetary side of the winch free of charge. 5 min replacement job and she's good as new.

    20131029_171003_zpsbbcc109e_b07a4312b13da8e21bb0fc9c4bcd7fb96cca9cd5.jpg

Now if I was baller status and money didn't matter, I would get a Warn for the quickness alone, and the fact I could buy another when/if it crapped itself.

Another option is the Chicago Electric 12k winch. Goes on sale every month at HF for $299. I have installed two of these on trailer used as car junkers, and these guys swear by them and use them 6+ times a day. That being said I was hoping my XRC was garbage so I could get a 12k from HF instead of my undersized XRC8 :(

Did you waterproof your smittybuilt solenoid? Regrease internals ?Ah. I do like the idea of a remote controlled winch though. Loaded -where did you end up mounting your solenoid etc

No doubt! That wasn't a complaint. They do their job very well.

I was out in Moab last year with stock lift and tires. I hit my sliders, skid plate, bumper, and hitch on every rock out there.

Interesting. I sent in my first wireless remote to Warn because I thought there was something wrong with it. They got it and tested it and it was fine, but they sent me the new version for free.

I got my bumper after rear ending someone. So when I brought my truck in to get everything fixed they installed the bumper for me. They made a little bracket that puts it right behind my grill. I got the idea from Tyler at Pelfrey and showed it to them.

You clearly wheel the piss out of your rig, and I'm sure you've used the crap outta the winch over 6yrs. You might have swayed me and saved me a ton of money.

I just don't get it for as many people as are in this area, I would think there would be more Tacoma owners on here and active

    Hey Peter,

Where did you order your 700# Eibach springs from? I looked around on their website and unless there is a special truck section that I cant seem to find I don't see anything haha.

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Dearest Alex,

I ordered them through Toytec. They are also available on summit racing. They are 700# 14" 3 dia. Then I painted them.

    Hope that helps,
    Peter

Outstanding! Thank you. Going to be going with Tyler's front plate bumper and a winch like yours. Want to make sure I don't sag to much :) How's the ride with all that weight upfront?

I have no problems or issues. Those coils brought up to stock baja height with all the weight.

Congrats on the bumper it is so badass!

Yeah thats them. I say get a hold of steezemcqueen on here (He's got a bad ass 4Runner). He is the one who hooked me up with them. Plus Toytec has a coil spacer for the baja front shocks that bumps us up an inch up front. I will be purchasing those and OME w/DX29 once I get my Rear bumper from Pelfreybilt.

    His build: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/4runner-builds/275524-rock-lobster.html
