Smith and wesson stopped making these in 98. They'll run for 800-900 on gun broker... If people ever sell them. I got it for 300 from a friend

What method did you use for the front handguard retainer? That's one thing I haven't done to mine yet.

One of the companies makes a bolt on retainer. much easier than pressing the FSB on and off.

Yes, I know - thanks. Curious specifically which route he took, or if perhaps he bought one that already had AK handguards. Those weren't available when I bought my Saiga.

Gotcha. A lot of companies are making Saiga specific guards now. I really like Chaos' full rail guard.

I was playing with Krebs' keymod rail the other day. It has a clamp you bend around the barrel in a vise. I've never seen that approach before.

I think all of the Saigas are Izhmash.
Century basically imports rebuild kits and has a staff of shaved monkeys employees bending flats and slamming them together.

I used the bolt on retainer, just put a dimple in the barrel and it holds really well. I bought it from Carolina shooters. This one was bought from classic arms. It was imported by Monroe, or something like that.
