Didn't the mount Nathan have make the tire sit on the bed?

 

I've seen folks move the camera from the tailgate down to the opening where you insert the jack handle to let the spare tire down.

 

Not sure. But need something lol going to get the spare Monday.

Yes, the tire sat on the bed. The problem was all the bumping around from crappy roads. The tire moved enough to fatigue the bed.

If you're going to mount the tire to the bedside it will have to be at the front of the bed and the tire will need to be tied to the bottom of the bed with a strap so that it won't move.

 

That's why the tire is standing up right.

 

Kase is talking about a bar that goes across the bed and sandwiches the tire between the front of the bed and the bar.

You lost me at cut in the middle.

Why not build a rack like you would use to hold the front tire of a motor cycle? Just turn it 90deg so the tire will run perpendicular to the truck.

 

So just one bar going across and not two?

I could use something similar for the back of the bed. Basically, I'd like the tire to be in the same spot as where I had my tire with the metalmiller carrier.

What is you take the same mount you have and add a leg or a stand that supports itself on the bed. But mounts to the rail.

 

How bout making the bar mount to 4 spots on the rail. Two on top of the bed, and one on each side of the bed side. Then cross bars and what not that come down to the bottom of the bed

 

The bed is too weak to support anything in the back. The support would have to come up from the bottom of the bed.

 

So making a stand that mounts to the bolts that hold the bed down?

 

Picture this but with only the top bar bolted to the bed rails. No other bars.



Bottom of tire would sit on the bed and the tire would lean on the bar that is bolted to bed rails

 

Could modify what you have. Stretch it down to the bed with a mounting place to bolt it to the bottom of the bed also.
