Good lord I just spent 10 minutes drooling on myself in daydream/nostalgia mode.

I went to about a half-dozen actual in-person matches in Wausau and Green Bay when dad could afford the tickets. Not many but they were HUGE to a broke farm kid.

The AWA is where the the British Bulldogs started FFS.

And watching Dusty Rhodes get his trunks accidentally pulled down and BREAKING THE RING getting suplexed...oh wow, the memories

I may only be 20, but I was raised a lot differently than most kids my age. I got an original Nintendo when I was ten. (2004 or so) I played Duck Hunt, Pole Position, and Mario. I listened to records and tapes, (Styx, Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, Supertramp, ELO, Jimmy Buffett, Johnny Horton, etc.) and when I was in middle school, I carried around a portable cd player that I had to hold upright and still so that it wouldn't skip. Our vehicles always had manual windows and all of that- I'm still leery of automatic windows. I had a yo-yo, VHS tapes, army guys, and lots of books. I went outside and built forts, climbed trees, and carved giant sticks into the likeness of a rifle, which I always called my "boom-stick." I used a typewriter when I did my school reports right up until senior year. Air conditioning in a car was when you rolled the windows down and flipped out the little vent windows to direct some of the airflow. I can drive a stick, and lots of folks my age can't. I didn't have a cell phone until I was 17. I can skin and gut a deer, squirrel, rabbit- just about anything, and all the others my age flinch at the sight of a dead animal. I played sports where the score was actually kept. Oh yeah, and I can spell- and write coherent sentences!

This. :p None of us were raised to act like this, but my youngest brother is very much like this. I want to knock him upside the head, because this is exactly how he thinks and acts. My older sister acts like this too, and my younger sister does somewhat, though she actually has a work ethic. Thankfully, my other little brother actually holds respect for our parents, does not dress like a moron, and actually thinks before he acts, in fear of what the consequences may be.
I don't really feel like I am a part of my generation- most of them make no sense, and I am always embarrassed when lumped with such a crowd of ignorant, ungrateful morons.
I was raised to respect my elders, especially my parents, because without them, I wouldn't be here, and they only want the best for me. I work hard for what I have, because I know you have to work to get what you want. It shouldn't just be handed to you, anyways. And in the cases that I have accepted assistance from others, (such as when you wonderful TW folks helped me out) I always felt the utmost gratitude and respect for those aiding me. And one way or another, I pay everyone back/pay it forward. It may take a while, but returning the favor is always on my mind.

Ok, I'm done here, because I feel like going on and on and on, and nobody's gonna want to read the book I could make out of this post. :D

It's got nothing to do about moaning or complaining. It's about acknowledging the stuff future generations won't (and maybe don't need to) experience.

They may never have to change a flat tire.

A lot of new cars only come with run-flats, or a plug kit and a mini compressor. Soon the spare will be dead.

I remember the days when you actually played outside and kept score as well. Heck I am like you Fenwick in some ways. I don't lump myself in the swag *** category I am more of a outdoorsy redneck thanks to my grandpas family haha.

Yes! Ernest Scared Stupid was my favorite. Trantor the Troll used to scare the hell out of me! I think Ernest goes to Jail was my second favorite. Tom and Bobby were my favorite characters. And I always wanted Rimshot.

    Thank you!

Glad to know I'm not alone! Sounds like we fall into the same category. A few weeks ago, my youngest brother (Mr. Swag Swag Yolo Homey) introduced me to a friend of his. I shook her hand and introduced myself, and after hearing me talk for a few moments, she turned to my brother and asked him "How come your big brother is so country when you're so swaggy?" I just thought that was pretty funny. I guess it was the camo pants and hunting boots.

someone posted a 3" floppy disk... what about the 6" ones you used for a good ol commodore 64 system? Beta tapes instead of VHS? How you use to tune your record player speed using the little reflective mirrors on the edge? When dime bags were actually a dime? Smoking aloud in restaurants and bars. Filling up a large pickup truck for under 40 bucks lol. Its a countless conversation here :p

Wow!....that is so deep...it is also the biggest load of shit I have ever heard in my life. The new generation is full of people that want instant gratification, without doing the work. I do not know who you quoted, but I will say, they probably didn't relize how lazy and full of themselves the " new" generation would be. Great! Now I am harshing mellows!

Lol I don't think your brother would last a minute around me haha :D if he said yolo or anything like swag I would probably slap the swag out of him with my swagger stick. BTW a swagger stick is an old thing used by generals in the old days lol.

Yup the old 5 1/4 inch floppy. I learned in 1983 how to program on the Apple II, went to a summer school to learn it. We went to a computer store one day and they showed us the commercial for the Macintosh before it was on the market.
