Ultra gauge mounting location

have mine on a bracket coming down from visor mounting bolt. If I remember I'll post pics tomorrow.

That's why I mounted mine up top above the mirror (pictured earlier) so no one could see it but it is still accessible (and usable). I have access to all the buttons on back without having to move the gauge.

 

I just keep it around to check my voltage output so I don't keep it down. The cable was just long enough (ran it through the roof and down the a-pillar); it could have been 6 inches shorted and still worked. But all-in-all it works great for my intents and uses.

Originally mounted as pictured with couple mending braces I had laying around. Thinking was that I could swivel it up out of view but couldnt reasonably accomplish that. Have a longer single mending brace (5") that I'm going to bend to tuck up closer to the windshield. Cable's run inside the a-pillar trim, behind the door weatherstripping and into the kick panel.

What mount did you use?

 

contemplating down there. doesn't block heater speed control and I have access to the cubby

No mount, just double sided 3M adhesive strip. I suggest using a strip of velcro though.

For the above mirror mount locations, I see multiple mounting methods used. Can you guys provide more information on what you did, perhaps with pics?

 

I am now considering that location lol. I don't use that cubby at all anyways so I think it would be perfect

 

Buy the UG with the Swivel mount. It comes with 3m tape already attached. Mount it above the rear view mirror and run the cable under the headliner. I just used a small bent bracket to pull the headliner down slightly to allow for the cable to go under the headliner. Remove the 2 bolts holding the grab handle and remove the "A" pillar and run the wire down the inside of that. Bare in mind your airbag is behind the "A" pillar so do not block anything to do with that. There is a large hole between the "A" pillar and dash and just drop the connection directly down to the OBDII port. It will have just enough wire to reach it.

It does. My UG has not arrived yet, so perhaps a dumb question that will be obvious when it is in hand.

So you put the 3M tape on the windshield, are you worried about having to reattach when windshield is replaced?

 

Are you planning on having your windshield replaced lol? If you have your windshield replaced yes you will have to replace the 3m tape. I had to do that when I sold my 2011 for the 2013. I bought the industrial strength 3m tape and it holds solid. The way to attach the mount is to align the edges of the mount with the dots on the windshield and it will be level. It has a adjustment screw on on the back of the base so you can move the UG to whatever position you like.

 

I just placed the edge of the mount under the headliner (temp) did not stick it until I am sure that's where it will live.

My temporary mounting location. I like it here so far, but button access is not great. Need to see is Bluetooth mic is effected as well. May be nice to hide the mic if it still works well.

 

Your visor will hit it in that location and like you said.... no access to the buttons. Since I reset my avg mileage every fill up and when I change my oil having access to the buttons is important to me. Right above the mirror there is no vision impairment and when I check my rearview mirror I can quickly scan all the vitals of the truck.
