So I was hoping to get my RTT next week and was talking to my dad about it. Accidentally let slip how much it cost and that I was gonna store it in the garage. He said if I buy it, I might as well live in it cause he'll kick me out. Lame

Anyone on here done the HID conversion? I'm looking at doing it and am getting a lot of people saying it's a bad idea because it can blind people and cause them to crash into you. Help!

Yes and it kinda sucks. Do a retrofit instead.

Don't have the money for a retro fit and the truck is my company vehicle so I won't be pulling the headlights apart either. The seller of the HIDs told me they're shielded bulbs and that the glare issue will be almost nonexistent. People that have bought his HID kits have nothing but good things to say about them; I think I'm going to go ahead with it but wanted to see if anyone had bad experiences with the conversion.

I have the same shielded bulbs in my Tacoma and they flood light everywhere. Great from the drivers seat, suck for everyone else. I'm also on my second set of bulb and have had 3 ballast take a shit.

Which time? I've been thru DDM, ebay, and some random Amazon vendor. It's all the same Chinese shit.

I see. The guy here on TW that's selling them has a lot of people who have bought them and they all say good things about them. No one has mentioned an annoyance to oncoming drivers. That's why I'm taking a chance on them. Worst case scenario I'll put them on my Focus; it uses the same bulbs. It's low enough it shouldn't be a problem for oncoming drivers.

I'm not trying to sway your decision, if you like it, run it. Just know, you will get high beamed. You will piss people off. Without a cutoff, they flood everywhere. That said...I'm still running mine. I came to terms with being an asshole a long time ago (but I also just ordered retrofits if that's any consolation).

I was in his first ever GB (back before TW) and if his stuff is still the same, it's the same as DDM aka Chinese shit that Jason was talking about

Oh and I still have HIDs. Not the best output, but bright as shit. Just aim them down and it should be fine. Oh and DDM is cheaper, just gotta wait like 3-5 weeks
