I miss horror movies before they turned into all CGI. Horror movies were so much better in the 80s.

 

I remember seeing "Halloween" when my parents rented it, think we rented the player too. Not sure if it was beta or vhs but remember seeing that movie and being hooked on horror movies.

 

Betamax… used them on my pre-teens and VSH tru my early teens….
guys and gals, i think its safe to say we are a mechanical/analog generation stuck on a digital world….

Never had a Betamax. I did have a top loading VCR though. It had the push button station presets on it too.

My kids will never understand "Be kind, please rewind." Or that I might want to "tape that show" lol

They actually had a restaurant type of thing in Salem, Oregon (sort of like what Target does now). Mom told me the popcorn was not clean (thanks Mom, sage advice!)

 

They actually made rewind machines too, we had one until we got a VCR that could do it just as fast. Good ole 4 head hi-fi Panasonic I believe.

 

Many of them were in a shape of a car.... never understood why? Maybe to have some shelf appeal

 

Don't know about you guys but I participated in a break-dance off with my brothers at a Rec. Center as a young kid, that was fun stuff.

 

My brother had a Laser Disc player that had a slot for a Karaoke machine or a Turbo Graphix 16, we had this Star Wars chess game that had some funny animated moves. Wish I could get it on my computer.

 

There was a time when watching Rick Astley's song "Never Gonna Give You Up" was not a rickroll. Was just another song white girls danced to. When MTV and VH1 showed videos. The Simpsons were still on the Tracy Ullman Show.

 

Closing in on my 35th and my childhood goal to be in the FBI has never panned out.


Not that I regret that, just something I wanted to be. What did you want to be but didn't?

 

Police/military. Though I enlisted in the Navy years ago, I got a medical discharge for having asthma. Now, with a bad back (herniated L5) I could never become a police officer. Plus, I hate to say this, but they do not get paid near enough for what they do for us on a daily basis. So now I fix car. Not exactly a childhood dream, but it pays the bills.

 

I wanted to own my own business and be my own boss. That hasn't happened yet. I am happy working in IT and it pays the bills. Being 35 with 3 small children, the timing just isn't right. But I am still holding on to that dream. My dad was in his 40s when his childhood dream of being a pilot for a living came true, he has since retired in manner that most of us have dreamed about once or twice (sail boat in Mexico).

I did marry my childhood sweet heart! Meat at 6, in and out of each others lives until we got married at 32. So I am one for two with a lot of time left (I hope).
