Also, does anybody know the part # for a '97 Tacoma 4x4 manual trans ECU?


I thought it might be the 89661-3d140, but it looks like that one might be from a '96 4Runner...


Any leads on a place I can go to look this stuff up?

far as i know..that would be the best place. Or i know there is or was a huge freaking scrap yard in CO that had lots of taco parts. Could get one from there.

 

You talking about Yoda Jims? I've heard of him, but never had a reson to check it out.

Otherwise you could try car-part.com. Its a scarp-yard dateabase I guess you could say. I've found serveral parts that way. They have a pretty good setup to sort out exactly what you need.

Also, I got a message from the guy selling the supercharger yesterday... He's asking $1800 for the unit! I'm looking to spend about $1000, so I don't know if we can even meet in the middle on this.

On the other hand, he only wants $250 for the fuel system upgrades, which doesn't seem bad to me.

Does $1250-$1500 seem like a fair price for both?

 

honestly..1800 seems fair for both if the blower is in good shape and the URD kit comes with EVERYTHING. Usually the used kits are missing the fuel pump..

1500 would be a good deal though.

 

^So, it's not the 7th injector kit. It's this one:

He listed everything except the shrink tubing, decal and install guide. It looks like URD prefers the 7th injector to this kit. Do you know anything about it?

 

Yea, so instead of adding a7th injector that only adds more fuel under boost conditions(works the same as meth injection) through the EGR port on the SC. You get 6 larger injectors overall too add the extra fuel.

I, personally, would prefer the 6 bigger injectors. But both work fine.

I bet URD says the 7th is nice as it is easier to tune generally speaking and install and run ect. But if you have EGR your screwed and have to do the 6 injector kit.

Not sure if you yours does or not...pretty sure mine doesn't, most CA models do though.

If you don't have EGR you could always opt to skip the 6 injector kit and get the 7th one later if ya want.

 

Sweet. If the only drawback of the 6 injector setup is ease of tuning, I'd rather have that. I would be worried that the 7th injector setup could let one cylinder go rich while another one goes lean.

 

Wow, I didn't read that. I know that no one in my local club runs any additional fuel stuff... but we're at almost 6000 ft elevation. I'd wonder if, when Scotty or my friends travel to sea level, any issues might arise.

Your ECU should compensate for sea level...what it does..haha the whole point of fuel injection is to be able to control how much goes in and how much fuel.

At sea level..you will fell more power. Every 1000' or so about 10-20hp is lost depending on motor and a few other things.

Timmy, don't even bother, get the 7th injector(you don't have EGR). It help a lot and is needed really with the SC.

 

^What kind of injector duty cycle would you be running on stock injectors and boost at sea level? It seems like they would run out of gas...?

 

Also, before I forget, do most SC guys just run a high flow drop in filter?

 

Drop in filter? like..fuel filter? Won't need it. Not for this..haha you won't be close to approaching that kinda performance lol

and no of course they wouldn't. Then everyone at sea level right now would be shit outa luck haha yours isn't using near as much fuel as their's yes due to your motor having to pump more air to get the same oxygen content as they do.

So you have less power then they do..but if you went to sea level, your truck would go WTF?!?! at first..then adjust accordingly and be fine.

 

Hey Lumpskie if you haven't found that ECU you should call yoda jim he is a good guy and I have gotten parys from him before and about to get some more so give him a try and if you want when I get my parts I can pick up yours at the same time.

 

Haha, I was thinking about air filter. Do most guys run cone filters, or would a drop in work?
