I think it was intentional, to enhance the impression of explosive poop-matter in the toilet...or maybe a dark foreboding "This is what will happen if you eat this!!!!"

 

It might not be the sole reason but I imagine it contributed. That combined with your "corridor" hypothesis.... And you're going to have bad time...

Granted I don't want to fixate on it but if this helps other guys prevent it then at least it's not a total loss.

I found dried mud in my intake after the high steel bridge meet we did last year. The puddles we drove through werent even that deep....

You didn't have your snorkel at High Steel? I'm glad I haven't sold my stock intake yet, just in case I do end up with a snorkel at some point.

Aren't there breather hoses for the front diff and stuff that need moving up as well? I'm thinking that's something to check in to

 

Front diff vent is already up at intake manifold elevation.

I think on the fender well. Other breathers from trans and transfer case are behind the engine at the fire wall.

 

What he said jus do the rear dif n yer good!

 

And knowing is half the battle!

I think that's a plausible theory as well.

So...fyi...
Finally located the problem w my front end after swapping the wheel bearings and my driver side lca and cv axle..
It was my stupid cv, the inner knuckle had over extended and bound up.. it still installed fine and spun w tire on but w weight it would bind up at he top of the rotation and compress my shock... made it feel like I was driving on an egg shaped tire.
I have done at least a dozen cv swaps and this is the first time I've encountered this problem.. it'll be the last too!!

 

I have a plasma cutter that does wonders on fenders.........and bbq's!!
I also added a snorkle to the mod list, I think sales in wa will likely double. Lol.
