    I don't think anyone realizes how difficult it can be to reconstruct facial deformity....no....mutilation after they choose to do this to themselves. I am not a facial plastic surgeon, but talking with them, the ear reconstructions (after the 3 inch holes lose their cool), are very difficult to reconstruct and never look normal. Oh and insurance does not cover self mutilation by the way.

    A circular deformity of all is very difficult to reconstruct. Once the skin stretches and forms a central void, it takes wide excision or a rotational flap/ free flap to fix. Most normal circumstances are malignancies or traumatic defects that need tissue coverage. I respect peoples rights to do they want to their own bodies, but it I would never do this to myself or want it for my family/friends.
