I agree that the sport looks higher because of the illusion from the hood scoop. Once I had a 1.75" lift parked to my buddy's stock sport. They look like of the same height but the measurements disagreed.

I think it is the sagging sidewalls on the OR's Rugged Trails.

Mine sag like crazy when under any kind of load at all. I had them at 31 PSI (factory spec is 29) in the front and had a couple friends tell me my tires looked like they were going flat.

Even pumped to 34 psi, my front end rugged trails balloon out at the sides and sit lower than the rear end.

I did not state the air volume within the tires changed, only that the side walls in the stock load range "P" rugged trails tend to get sag badly under load. Perhaps I was not clear in that I meant the sidewall area closest to the tread portion of the tire contacting the driving surface.

I have 1.75" preloaded up front at 19K miles, 9k with the preload. When I park next to a TRD Sport, My front bumper is almost imperceptibly taller. I have not measured both. However, parking next to an OR pickup with stock tires, the difference is more pronounced.

Could also be an illusion because of the different size wheels

The TSB 4pack springs will add 1 1/2" to the rear.

Friends silver 06 sport looked higher than my silver 07 off road. So we measured through the center of the wheels and his truck was 1.25" higher in the rear and 1.00" higher in the front. Both stock trucks with about the same miles and both had non tsb springs. Btw we did not measure how much higher his hood scoop was over my hood:)

Pretty moot comparison to my mind, because all Tacos should get a lift at some point.

It is not an illusion created by the hood scoop.
I just traded a 2011 Dbl Cab Sport to 2013 Off Road/TX Pro.
No doubt about it the sport sat higher.
I estimate at LEAST an inch but closer to 2!

    we have a winner.

2013 and earlier Tacomas.... only the TRD sport came with the 3 leaf + overload spring in the rear, to make for a slightly stiffer and sportier ride, which subsequently increased ride height.

2014 tacomas... ALLL 6 lug tacomas (from your base regular cab, to your DCLB 4x4 sport, and DCSB 4x4 Off road) ALL have 3leaf + overload packs.
