You could build up a stock Tacoma pretty nicely with the items listed in there right now!

    hmm...
I'll have to look into that Iron Man one, then.
Honestly, I doubt I'll be carrying many very heavy loads in the Tacoma now that I've got that old Dodge; it's a heavy half, so it has 3/4 ton springs. They look to be originals, so they're 30 years old but don't show any signs of sagging. I've got 10 80lb bags of tubesand in the bed right now to offset the weight of the plow and it hasn't even settled the springs. So odds are any loads of manure, gravel, topsoil, etc are going to be carried by the Yeti from now on.

Sorta like how I'm gonna get a 2wd base 4banger single cab instead of getting the TX PRO or Baja taco? I can put the suspension items I want in it and fine tune it.

Granted, all leather trim with gadgets and doo-dad's is nice, but if I'm using a truck as a truck, I'm not gonna worry about keeping my leather clean and scratch/scuff/tear-free. If I want a LT truck, I'm gonna build one from a base model. No sense paying more when you could buy more mods

Arizona, Texas or Utah. Thems be my plans.

I won't pull the trigger on LT until I move. Til then probably just save for a URD SC kit for the 4banger

I have the Ironman lift and love it. It rides a 100% better than stock, no nose dive when braking lightly and it handles the roadways better including on and off ramps

You guys do realize that LT isn't just for high speed runs, right? It can be very useful in any situation that requires lots of flex in order to keep your tires planted. Non-resi long travel shocks would be perfect for the more difficult terrain around here.

This is true but I want to SAS the 4Runner and LT the taco. Maybe I'll find a used 4wd 4Banger taco. I just want a lot of travel and CV axles limit your down travel potential

    X2.
I've seen a lot of swamps and fields littered with ledge and granite boulders where a LT would have been pretty handy. Ruined a perfectly good skid plate on my '93 ZJ because I had to run at a ledge faster than I should have due to lack of articulation stealing traction.

Plus, 60MPH logging roads are a LOT less bone-rattling when you're in a LT rig.

Lotta good things being said about Ironman by a lot of folks.

I think I want to LT mine, shackle flip with extended shackles for my overland build. I think it'll be the best way to run 35's. I'm not getting stuck 300 miles into the wilderness.

I had read that the first batch of bent frames were due to a high speed desert run sponsored by a suspension company which specialized in putting softer rear springs into the Raptor. The softer springs are what led to the bottoming out.

It was also due to individuals not pre-running the route, and guys not following the route plan which had one particular area called out to slow down. A bunch of guys just went out and didn't pay attention to the event materials which clearly stated they should slow down in one spot, but they didn't and bent their frames

I drool over builds like spoonman and mrgrimm. A +2 LT kit for 4x4 is a awesome setup. When you hear long travel most people think of pre-runners that are built to go fast and take hard hits jumping dunes and stuff, which wouldn't make sense to build a truck like that for around here. If my dream for my truck comes true, and i am able to get a daily driver and keep putting money into my truck, LT and 35s might be in the future a few years down the road. I think i would rather go that route over a SAS for a well rounded rig, good for both expo, moderate crawling and still handle great on the highway. Being able to handle rough terrain at a higher speed is just a bonus, which IMO really doesnt require LT, just a well built suspension. Having that extra travel helps in a variety of different situations.

Take notes young man, because that's exactly what I'll be rolling out to the left coast in 2016.
