I remember going to visit my g/f's family in Huntington Beach, CA a few summers back and we went to McDonald's at like 5am and there was a little Hispanic kid taking stacks of newspapers from a van that an older Hispanic person was driving and delivering them to all the businesses. That kid had to have been like 7 lol...

Saturday morning cartoons...I can't remember if I read it in this thread or if it was on the Chive, but it was saying that the FCC made networks start showing educational cartoons on Saturday mornings and the stations pretty much said, "fuq it" and cancelled them all together and started playing the news....our govt for ya

    I'm 40 years old and
I barley remember the party lines due to us not have it. My grandma was the one that still had back in the day. Still remember my grandma telling her neighbors to get off the phone so she can call someone.

We had our antenna outside connected to the house. It was a pole standing higher than the roof with the antenna at the top with the wire running from the outside to the tv inside the house. Parents would tell us to go outside (any weather condition) and turn the antenna until w got a descent reception. Parents would be yelling out the window if we turned it to far or not enough.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
We were fancier, ours rotated on command via a control box. You cut out a cardboard overlay and marked the positions where each station came in best.

I read an article a while back saying in a few years schools will/should start weening out writing (with a pencil) class for typing and computer related classes because it's just obsolete.

Also, they don't teach how to write in cursive anymore, or how to balance a check book, or how to be functioning contributor to society . . . ha

As a 47 year old guy, I know what it is. I had them in my cars back then.

I'm 25 and I balanced my checkbook this morning...and wrote a check, where I also had to sign my name....in cursive. Obsolete, my ass!

You also forgot to mention how parents get all pissy these days when a teacher punishes their retarded ass kids. When I got in trouble at school, the LAST people I wanted to find out were my parents lol. Now, the parents blame the teacher for being a bully towards their child. No, your child is just a fuck tard lol

They will never have to know that to start an old Ford or Mercury, that you had to hold up the column shifter with one hand while turning the key with the other.

I had a class that showed us how to balance a check book. Basically the whole class was about using math in everyday life ( loans, taxes, the economy, bank acccounts, etc.). I graduated in 2009.
