Had 3 in my VW one in my wife's Scion 2 in my Tacoma 3 in my old Tacoma all in about 5 or 6 years it's life dude live with it they all get hit. Up here I really believe they have switched to pebbles instead of sand for the winter roads.

I always make sure I have window glass coverage on my vehicles. One window a year for free...any window. There are plenty of years where I don't use it but it was sure nice when I had a $1200 windshield out in the fj 6 years ago!

Got a rock chip on the first week of ownership. Hard to avoid them if driving the freeways in So Cal with all of the construction projects going on.
Anyone care to share the cost of their rock chip repairs by Safelite?
    Thanks!

After 8 months of driving in Colorado Springs and the mountains out west, I've picked up a handful of chips. I've come to expect it. My wife's RAV4 has a brand new windshield. We just get the chips repaired (if they're big enough) until we finally get a spiderweb crack. The Taco is still on its first windshield; the RAV4 is on it's third in 6 years.

I dont know about anyone else but my brakes will send your ass throught the windshield if you have to. Very touchy compared to my other 2013 vehicles. My wifes is the same. A car length is riding someones azz its 3 or 4 seconds behind the person in from in good conditions.

As to the whole weak glass its just life it happens i (knock on wood) havent had a issue since my new one went in. Its just the right place at the right time.

I mean yea i can stomp on it and it can probably throw me out from the windshield.
But the thing is. The damn truck doesn't stop when i stomp on it. It just lock all the wheels and pretty much sliding on the concrete road

    Pretty much stock
The Tacoma has a stopping distance of 126 feet, shorter than the Camry at 129 Ft and accord at 128 Ft.

I wish the moderators of this forum would delete all these posts that begin with inappropriate foul language. It has no place in this forum and adds nothing to the OP post.

I personally take offence to people taking the Lord's name in vain. I'm not judging anyone and I'm sure they think its ok. Just pointing out that this type of language is hurtful to some people and is not necessary to make your point.

Wow man, you must live a rough life if reading the internet offends you that much.

As for the windshield, I live near a quarry where trucks are constantly carrying rock around....been hit in the windshield a couple times and hasn't even left a mark. I think it's all just luck in how the rocks hit and where they hit.

WTF??? Don't take this wrong but that might be the silliest reply I've ever seen on here and I've seen some weird shit. You're considering moving to a new vehicle because your windshield got hit 2 times with a rock???

You do understand that other vehicles out there also have windshields too right? Wow!

I had my 2011 for almost 3 years with no chips. I've had others with chips all over them. I may go out today in the 13 and get a chip. It's just the luck of the draw man.

I took a stone dead center of the windshield at about 500 miles on my 2013. Sounded like I got shot. Left a bit of a chip that I repaired with a parts store repair kit; it did well enough that I don't really notice it anymore.

I am SUPER OCD about my car.

Also a car Detailer, so every little imperfection bothers me.
I have driven 4 cars in the past 5 years. This is the ONLY one i get rock chips.
I have had BIG ROCKS / DRBIS hit my other vehicle, and all it did was left a pitted mark, None ever cracked.

So i am just blaming it on the truck now lol.
I never thought i would even get ONE
and now comes with THE SECOND?

This truck costed 37k, i am expecting a better quality material within this truck.
I am just thinking for 37k i can get a pretty GOOD / Decent vehicle.

It is not your windshields fault. You have just run into some bad luck. It happens you know??? But to think about getting rid of a truck because of that???? Whatever....

I'm sure it's been pointed out, but that's a lot longer than 6mos...

    July 2012 - Jan 2014 = 19 months

FWIW I have approx. 9 rock-chips in the paint, 4 chips on my new Satoshi grill, and 1 very annoying chip in the glass (that got filled last weekend)...

    :frusty:

14 rock chips, I took possession of my truck on Nov 6 2013. (less than 3 months)

    :annoyed:
