:D I simply adjusted the switch so I wouldn't have to hold it.

:) And on some Oldsmobile Vista Cruisers and Others had a Switch in the floorboard that changed the channels on the "WonderBar" AM/FM radios. It was one of the first remote control options for the radio. It was shaped a little different design to keep from being confused by two switches in the floor board.

I have some friends that went to Monroe Academy here in GA and they said they could take guns to school and it was no big deal. One of them said he was walking down the hall before school started with a shotgun b/c he was going dove hunting after school lol. Unfortunately, I went to a public school, so I had to keep my guns at home :(

Lots of things come to mind that they'll NOT need to know:

    1. No need to know about privacy, as our government now listens to your phone conversations and reads your emails/texts.
    2. No need to worry about what losing is like, because they are taught that everyone is a winner.
    3. No need to worry about how they'll receive medical treatment, because Obamacare now provides true Socialist medicine.
    4. No need to worry about income inequality, because our current President says that people flipping burgers at MacDonald's should make the same money as a Brain Surgeon.
    5. No need to worry about the environment OUTSIDE a house, because virtual world's now exist online.

It's quite amazing that we have survived actually, with all the modern advances that our caring government and society have provided.

    # First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

    # They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

    # Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

    # We had no child proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

    # As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

    # We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

    # We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren’t overweight because .

    WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

    # We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

    # No one was able to reach us all day, and we were O.K.

    # We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

    # We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD’s, no surround-sound, CD’s or Ipods! No cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms…….

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

    # We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

    # We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

    # We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays.

    # Made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

    # We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

    # Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

    # The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

    # The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

    # We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives so much, than for our own good.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it?!

Was the same up here. In the early days, the phone number started with 2 letters, then the numbers.

The first part was more political based. Not really nostalgic about the old times. lol.

The second part, I agree with your rant to a point. But you have to also look at the fact that there are also HUGE differences between then and now in the world in general. More cars on the road, more people in tighter confines increases the risk of getting sick, etc. Sure some of that list is right on point, don't get me wrong. Just think a lot can't really compare because of life changes in general. Go ahead, start flaming me...lmao.

Is there a 'floor dimmer switch mod' anywhere? That would be amazing to have. Never should have been eliminated.

Not that i know of, but it should be fairly simple to tap into the wiring from the stalk.

It was moved, because up where they use salt on the roads in winter, it corroded the switch. Nothing worse than replacing a rusted switch in the winter, having to crawl underneath to get to it.

I also had an '87 pickup that had a rusty switch with a loud click. I like the idea of a floor-switch mod.
