    Hahaha! Oil cap.

See the thing is, the person doing your oil change, is not qualified to be doing it usually. Most of them aren't even apprentices'. They're just kids out of high school or whatever. Even an apprentice with basic training can successfully change oil.

I'm a licensed tech now, I was an apprentice for the last 5 years. If you have some basic knowledge, you can change oil correctly.

There are shitty techs everywhere. Chances are there won't be some unqualified kid doing a supercharger install.

You actually get an ASE tech (for all that's worth) when you get the SC installation. The oil change guy is a minimum wage kid that "likes to work on cars".

Was there not a CEL or oil light on ??? This is the 2nd post on dealer screw up oil changes. Like I said before, why is it so hard to manually check the dipstick before you drive the customers vehicles out of the garage after oil changes?

Still don't think I would trust them with putting a valve cap on one of my tires after this. Who knows what shortcuts might be taken.

A family friend of mine told the dealer he was doing the oil changes himself and they got all pissy with him..ridiculous. He now owns a Tundra because his 2012 tacoma had some weird noise in the rear diff. at certain speeds.

New truck.. engine and frame should have matching number numbers...if not the truck has a story. lose in resale, and driving a molested new truck that you paid for. Dealer totally at fault for your distress, anguish, time loss. Truck should be their future problem, not yours. Tell the dealer you want be made whole again, and that would be a new truck. Good luck!

I am at 4200 and going in for my first in a few weeks

Bringing a paper towel along with my tool bag in the back and going to double check everything. Since I bought the truck I dreaded the dealer oil changes. I would rather pay $30 and do it myself than have somebody else do it for free

    So do it yourself!

What makes the tacoma oil change easy, is the access to the filter. And lots of room around the drain plug.

I see 2 ways this can go:
    1. They will put oil in it, drive it, and call it good, saying there is no damage. BULLSHIT. Irreversible damage can be done in 30 seconds of operation without oil. It might not show up right away, and it might not show up until thousands of miles are on it.

    2. They rebuild the engine, or install a remanufactured one. The odds of getting a new one are very very slim.

Gonna agree with those above that go with the "either a new motor or you eat it and I walk " line.

I'm a pretty understanding guy, mistakes happen all the time, but this goes above and beyond forgetting to rewind a movie before you return it to the video store.

My truck's check engine light came on the day after I bought it. The Toyota dealer had it for 5 days and ended up replacing the computer (ECM) with a new one.

Corporate gave me an 8 yr/100,000 mile warranty for the trouble. Since this is their fault completely, Corporate will likely make the dealer give you a new engine on the dealer's dime and I'd ask them for an extended warranty as well.

The 2.7 kinda sucks, but it's a lot better than the 22RE.

And I still do it without a lift, ramps, or jack, even on my 5-lug.
