Hi y'all. I am new to the site and I just introduced myself on the new member forum and I just want to thank you in advance for your feedbacks. I am in the process of buying a 2004 Tacoma SR5 TRD PreRunner with 43,756 miles, and was wondering if y'all think this $16,950 a good price for it. Dealer says that is before tax, fees, all other crazy CA fees so I'm guessing it will be around $18k.

What you all think about the price? Should I try and haggle? What have u guys paid for yours?

I did test drive it and it drives good. Couple things I saw that I didn't like was tires needed to be changed, dog hairs all in the car, and battery has to be jumped. I checked out the guidelines for checking Gen 1's when buying and got some good info. Anymore info and things to watch out for would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Way too high and 4WD is way more fun.

I agree. Way too high for just the ext cab and no 4x4. Are you saying it has to be jump started?

Too high! maybe if it was D-cab 4x4, but then again clean lo mi unmolested 1st gens are slim pickings. I would absolutely hagle with them especially with it needing new rubber, the battery & dog hair are minor things. If its what you want say F-it and don't look back.

    Way too high.

Even if the ad weren't shot with a potato-cam, that's ridiculous for the truck.

Thanks for the feedbacks. I too think it's too high but maybe I can haggle the price down. Not sure if I can go down a lot since mileage is only 43k and engine bay is very clean. Would you say $12k a good one? Battery was charged and now hold charge. Someone took it for a test drive and forgot the lights were on. I will keep y'all posted. Thank you again.

I just bought a 2001 prerunner DC with 145k miles for $8500. The engine was spotless, but the body has a few flaws. I would honestly start out at 13500. NADA for that truck is 14,200. If its a trade in I bet he has 10-12k in it. Make sure you mention the tires, its not 4x4 and not the doublecab. I think if you can get it for 14 its a fair deal, only if you plan on keeping it for a long time.

Remember even though it only has 43k miles, its still a 10 year old truck. You could put that 14k towards a newer vehicle with more bells and whistles.
