Do you guys think it will go away? Increase? Decrease? What has been the latest trend in the past few years? I know the 2010 are rolling in soon, so will the rebate increase?

Im looking to buy my car this sun, Aug 2. So I would really like to know if I should wait or not. Thanks -Mike

    Too few to list.
Usually the newer models have no rebate. I'm not sure where you are but the rebates are regional. The west region has a $1500 rebate. I assume the rebate would go back to the usual $1K or might stay the same for the 09 models. I've never really seen it more than what it is now.

Rebates (at least as far as toyota goes) run from month to month; the dealers should know about what is coming up next on or about the third or fourth of each month.

Short version : check back on the third or fourth.

Just got my truck last night in Texas. I was told that in August will no longer have the 1500 rebate.... Since I paid the truck in cash I managed to negotiate a free extended warranty for another 4 years on top of the original 3

Paying in cash does not necessarily help you with negotiating with a dealer. They make money on the back end too, when you finance the vehicle with them. Paying in cash takes away their opportunity to make money on the back end, therefore lowering your negotiating position.

A couple south east dealers told me that whatever the rebate is in July always stays on indefinitely until that model year is all gone.

The motors are "supposed" to be destroyed with a sodium solution, but you probably know how that works (it is a gov't program after all); but I suspect a good lot of them will be heading off to Mexico.

FWIW, I've gotten my best deals by paying cash so I don't necessarily agree with that assessment.

"They" will often tell you this to motivate you to buy. I was told the same thing last month, and voila...$1500 rebate for another month.

I was going to buy it regardless. Actually I've noticed a different issue at least in Houston area. They're limiting the supply so they can easily up sale the more expensive models.... It was RIDICULOUS to see what they're trying to pull on me... Waiting list, up sale, you name it.
I had to go to 4 various dealers to find one 2x4 in their lot. It was unbelievable to be honest... I met some arrogant sales guys in this journey as well..

But the Don McGill in Katy was a fantastic experience... The sales guys was like, sure I will take your money, just come here and write me that fat check.... And so I did... I was out of the door in less than an hour since I had to skip all the finance stuff.. It took more to bargain the free extended warranty with the finance folks :) I actually headed for the door when they changed their mind :)
