    Exactly... I'm looking for a bumper similar to yours. It's just a matter of time before I hit a deer on the way to / from work and a plate bumper would help a lot.

    Remember its your truck and if you want a bull bar add one. I had one on my truck for a lil but took it off cause in imo it dated it so I got the avid which goes with the front end of the truck better and is stronger. A plate bumper isn't for everyone.

    I got a plate bumper to help in an accident like a TW member just experienced. She currently posted in the for sale /wanted section looking for front end items, etc.. Amazing that she can still drive this truck while finding parts to fix it. A little frame damage but would've been much worse without a plate bumper:

    Why are bull bars and brush guards considered damage multipliers? Is it because they bend the frame? My cousin had a brush guard on his truck and crushed a deer. He said if it wasn't for the guard his truck would have probably been totaled. He took the guard off and kept going.

    I guess it doesn't matter to me much cause I really like the Avid offroad lightbar, which sounds like its safe, but I assumed it attached the same way a brush guard would. Am I mistaking? Why is the avid light bar better than a brush guard?

    Whew. Glad I read through this post first. I too was thinking about getting a bull bar, specifically for preventing parking lot dings. I actually like the look but also need it to be useful.

    I liked the Avid Light Bar in this thread a lot because it seems to protect more of the bumper, but it only says through 2011 and I have a 2014. Does anyone know if it fits and without moving the factory skid plate?

    I also like a few of the other light bars, but I wonder if it will protect my bumper from dings in the parking lot and parallel parking in the city? or are they strictly for lights?

    One more loosely related question... If I choose a light bar, I undoubtedly will want an LED light bar next, how do you prevent theft? do they come off?
