    Speaking of cross fit.

When I was in the Corps I was mostly building mass. That's not really my goal anymore, just going for fit and healthy. If you have any recommendations for workouts for an injured person who wants to build endurance/flexibility etc let me know.

Pretty good day at the gym today, haven't gone in like 4 days so I was very refreshed and did a solid workout today.

I'm not looking to do CrossFit per se. I've done it before and it was a blast but very demanding. I can't even jump onto/off of a box right now (spine) but the benefit cross fit guys typically have is knowing more than just mass building compound moves that I can no longer do ha thus the question for those kinds of peeps.

I am actually very hesitant to ask for help on here. Not because I don't think I will get it but because it is hard to convey my specific situation, I don't like any pity party attention stuff, and I don't like when you ask for some workouts so people assume you've never touched a weight before haha

basically, if anyone has some links or suggestions for someone with a wrecked spine and wrist let me know. I don't like to sit and talk about my injuries but long story short I'm in pain every day and am very limited as to what I can do BUT I just can't stand to not be in the gym anymore.

I've been doing my squats on a BOSU ball and using more cables and even those chords they hang from the ceiling (forgot their name) and body weight. I'm trying to build up my core and flexibility in order to support my bad back and joints etc. So yeah, any suggestions are welcome by PM or reply and I'm not new to the gym, just shifting focuses so a simple link to a good start is all I need. If not, I will continue to research on my own ha its just always nice to get a head start in the right direction from people who have already trudged that path.

    Thanks, guys.

    true that.

    Today we did:

8 min to find 1 Rep Max of C&J

i hit 245..not a new max..just ran out of time damn it..

    then

    6 min EMOM of

    2 Muscle ups
    8 Hand stand pushups.

    Sucked

    then

    25 Toe to bar
    50 burpees
    75 russain swings at 53lbs
    100 Double unders

    10 min cap

i did not finish that. was shot. Got to 26 DU.

    good day though.

    Yes lots.

Best thing though is to go and find a good gym. There are LOTS and LOTS of dog shit crossfit gyms out there since it has gotten so popular lately. So everyone and their mother gets a level 1 cert and BOOM! I am a crossfit trainer!

    bullshit

Find a good gym with a good enviroment.

My current gym makes all new people go through an intro class before even doing a real WOD. Why? to make sure you KNOW every movement well and with good form before going out and doin it wrong as fast as you can to hurt yourself. And to get to know you and your previous injuries.

A good gym will scale to your needs and work on you personally to get areas stronger all while still working with everyone else.

But for what you said about getting just fit and feeling good. Nothing better IMO. And if you get good, you can get bigger and stronger. But to just get a bit slimmer and feel good in general, it'll do that as well.

Diet will play the big role though too. I know my gym in Wy helps a lot with people and their diet program too as well as really helping stultify good movement patterns and pushing you.

Crossfit has a very high injury rate due to the amount of max effort required for a long period of time, only takes 1 bad rep with bad form to ruin your whole life. for people with injury i would stick with the mobility wods and lower rep workouts, statistically speaking olympic lifting has a lower injury rate than most sports. check out strength camp and canditotrainingHQ on youtube for tip and advice regarding training and injury dealing advice.
training after a deload is always the best.
haha, there are people that know their stuff that does crossfit, i think cross fit needs to improve on 2 points under qualified coaches and inexperienced even coordinators, i've seen events where athletes are already tired and they want them to do 3 reps of their max clean and jerk under 2 mins, that's just asking for injury.

Diet isn't an issue for me at all haha I haven't touched a soda or a beer in a couple years and my grocery list is mostly green :D

I'm going to keep going to the stupid Anytime Fitness here for now because it's free for a while longer. I prefer to work alone too. I know you crossfit guys don't get that :p haha but I only like someone training me if I really click with them and all that. I'll see if I can find a gym here though and call and see if they can work with my with all my issues. thanks, man.

For spine stuff. That is alllllways tricky.

Taking things slow will be key of course.

Working on over all core will help a lot. Also Good morning squats(which are not to get your back exactly but will help). And normal squats with great form will help as well. Both front squats and back squats.

Honestly it sounds like starting with a physical therapist would be very beneficial first..to get you loose and get the strength back before REALLY hitting the gym again. I know thats not what you want, but i promise it'll help.

yea like i said above. TONS of idiots out there in the crossfit world as it has exploded...sadly..

i have been doing it for 7 years and never had an injury. But i have had good coaches and weeded through the shit gyms to find the people that know what they are doing.

I know ha it's complicated. I go to the VA hospital the the PT there is a joke. I don't have insurance outside the VA so I can't afford a real PT but I'm doing my own PT from home basically. Stretching and working what I need to. I also do regular chiropractic care and he is a holistic doc who does some PT and diet analysis and all that so that helps. It's just costing me an arm and a leg ha

So far I really like that BOSU ball thing for my squats ha my core really gets hit but not in a painful way for my back.

The Curse. I've let a couple folks try mine and the first thing they said to me was "Man I felt so focused...all I wanted to do was lift"

Got a buddy tryin White Flood right now. Said it's just OK. Nothin special for him.

I've been told Colin Ferrell before. Haha. First time I've heard Colin Ferrell that lifts  I like it.

The VA hasn't done anything but push pills. And their PT has you come all the way in to do 1-2 stretches that they could have emailed me at home. I've dealt with them for almost 3 years and they've done nothing but jerk me around and screw me. haha so no, the VA is good for nothing

BUT, that is neither here nor there. haha

I think one of my favorite things about pre workout is, when I take tests. I am ready to go, and remember how to do things so much easier.

Buzzard, give me some ideas of your mobility limitations due to your spine and wrist. PM me if you feel like it. If you give me some type of insight, I may be able to at the very least point you in the right direction, or help get you started.

Yea...it'll make you tingly. I took some the other day for the first time in a couple weeks and my face started tingling and my ears felt like they were gonna fly off my head. But, it gives me the energy and focus to make it through the workouts when I really don't feel like bein there.Definitely try a sample.

That stuff really work? I can't get past the gimmicky logo, and it don't like the fact that they do not provide how much beta and how much creating mono. They group it together as 3g. I would like to know each broken down

I like it. The couple guys I've given samples to have liked it. Like I said, the first thing they told me was they were more focused than they have been in a long time. :notsure:
