Thanks. I used to have a tan Can-Back, but the canvas rotted out (3 yrs of Colorado sun, followed by a couple of NC wet winters) which looked pretty sweet. The Moab pic is on Hell's Revenge, I ran the whole trail, except Hell's Gate, completely stock, no lift, just sliders and some 265/75R16 BFG AT KOs. I got muddy water over the hood in one of the tubs and someone wrote Stockoma on the hood!

Thanks and not this year Adam. I put my Vacation in June this year - we're taking my 10yo daughter to Normandy for the 70th Anniv. of D-Day. I think if I make another trip out west, I'll have my Taco take me out to Rubithon, but I need to replicate your Taco more into mine first!

Thanks for the advice on the body lift awhile back. Today I got the bed done with no issues, and then got the pax side of the body done. I'm having issues with the front and rear of the driver's side. Oddly, the middle is in fine! I'm gonna have do some body/hip slamming tomorrow. No issues with the gas hose, and remembered to disconnect the battery so that I could lift the driver side without damaging battery cables.

 

That trip to Normandy sounds like a blast and body lifts are a lot of fun to work with my biggest issue on mine was listening the bolts, I torqued 6 of mine in half

Warning to all people buying stuff from Mastercraft SAFETY. I believe that when the "feet" were welded to the bracket, they were very lazy to measure out exactly where they had to be. All 4 brackets were off by either 1/4"-1". Pretty embarrassing for a reputable company that is all about safety. Will be calling them tomorrow.


Also afe pro-dry filter installed! Along with the elbow mod my 2rz sounds beefier and I can feel the extra air flow at high RPM's. I need to stop running through the gears like im being chased every time I take an on ramp hahaha

 

What you youngsters don't realize is that when Tacomas first came out, there were no aftermarket parts available. It took awhile for OME and King and Fox and bilstein to develop the parts and pieces that are available to you today.

As I recall, Cornbred was the first lift available. A simple aluminum 'preload' spacer. Cost was something like $100-150 for a set and you could use the stock 4600 bilstiens to get a 3" lift.

The cornbred spacer was a simple design and easily copied if you had a lathe. As for polyurethane, there are a whole range of hardnesses and durability levels if you knew what you wanted. Durometer, a measure of hardness, can range from the softness of a pillow to the hardness and durability of aluminum and can be cast into any shape, including one easily machinable on a lathe.

Speaking of polyurethane...

I must not be wheeling hard enough. I'm not wearing out the poly bushings in my springs.

Made a recce run past my local tire shop today ... They anxiously await new wheels to arrive.

 

Is it normal for these trucks to have trouble with hot starts? If I've shut the engine off within the last 15 minutes it kind of stutters to start again. I just let it crank over once or twice extra. My old chevy did the same thing
