Ugh solid engine mounts and a beat up old rubber mount for the trans is not a good combo lol lot a bellhousing bolt and another was loose then went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't start found I was missing one if the bolts for the starter abd the other was barely hanging in :frusty:

hey, is Camino Cielo open this time of year? What time do the gates open in the morning? and can I really drive all the way from the beginning of West Camino Cielo at 154 all the way to Solvang?

    the trails or the range?

If the area isn't closed for fire safety the gates are always open. the Range however is not open last time I checked. You can always call the SB forest service to find out (805) 964-1313

awesome, thanks for the info and number.

I was more interested in the trails. Me and my wife are planning a trip up to San Luis Obispo with a stop in Solvang along the way. I saw on some cyclist website about a cycling W Camino Cielo all the way through to Refugio Rd. Is that open to vehicles the whole way?

nice! We're in a wine club at a winery that's right on Refugio so that would be a perfect way to start our trip. Thanks for the info! :)

If you wanna end up in solving you take west then off the side of the pavement there is a fork in the road...left goes to Refugio and right goes to solvang...it's been a long time so my memory is vague

Last I heard the road to solvang was closed to a bridge being out? That was awhile ago though so I'm unsure

any one go drive in the snow last night? i went up onto east camino and there was a light dusting but barely anything, so i headed back to happy canyon road and went all the way to the top of figaroa mountain and there was a decent amount of snow, enough to completely cover the road and be able to drive on top of it with out just punching through to the road underneath

Couple months back at least 4 maybe more but with how fast they are with repairs up here I wouldnt count on anything. All else fails you can double back and go down refugio the other way

Cool, thanks for the heads up. You think I can get any legit information on the status of the trail if I call the parks dept?

Probably not unless you luck out and connect with the right person at the right time. Its pretty hard to find current information about stuff like that. I did just speak with my boss and he was up there 2 weeks ago. He said they will only turn you around if they are actually doing work on the bridge. I guess the bridge isn't done yet but there are easy ways around it. he was on his dirtbike so that could mena anything.
