lots to list, i will get back to this one..
The good thing about the hill, is if you get stuck, not a problem to back up/get pulled off since it is somewhat steep. And don't let yourself fall off the right side into the pit. That would ruin your day.....

That's the name if it. I'm guess a majority right now is pretty much 4x2. So nothing to gnarly more relaxed but with challenges. If want to go off on your own with others who want to do the more aggressive stuff then i would suggest to do that after the run. I'm sure there will be other who would like to.

Meet up points are a good idea, especially with a big group. Steve and i had this talk already about that. I was thinking depending on how big this gets that smaller groups would be made and have people who know the trails well to be put into those groups to avoid a problem like that. Im not sure if everyone has GPS. I know the maps at the Ranger Station have GPS coordinates on them for all the spots in Ocotillo.

Hope you can make it too. Do you want to be added to the last as a maybe?

It would be cool to see! Yea i've seen buggies, sandrails, utv's, quads, bikes, and jeeps, get stuck. Usually in the whoops section or just before it. Usually cause they didn't have enough speed. It's hard for the bigger stuff to get speed cause not a lot of room. Plus you have all those other riders going up and down all the time.

^^^ Sure, go ahead and add me as a maybe. I can lead or be the last person for a slow or a fast ride, it really is not a problem. There are enough little side hills that people can play on to make it enjoyable for everyone. Since the majority of people are running 4x2's I would be careful on the side shoot to the pumpkin patch up tule wash. Sometimes, and there really is no rhyme or reason, that wash is pretty soft, other times it is as hard as a rock and a UPS truck could make it back there. It shouldnt be a problem for anyone with some decent tires, but anyone 2wd running stock tires skinnier than 265's should be warned.
That is all I can think of for now, we don't really need to use GPS's, but they come in handy, and as long as a couple people have em, were good.
We can pick some meeting spots along the way that are impossible to miss, (Devil's Slide, Shell Reef, and the intersection of pole line road)
I'm sure we will be fine. Sounds like you guys have a solid trip planned out. There is cell service throughout most of the park.

Cool sounds good we'll put you on.

Yea a lot of the spots aren't hard to miss like the ones you mention. Most are on Shell Reef Expwy.

Yea had a lot of help from Steve (socalman22). Just want to make this a fun day for everyone wanting to come out especially for my boy Randy! Putting Warheads on Foreheads! And yes there is cell coverage out there thanks to that BIG ASS tower! Everyone going has to have a CB and/or walkie talkie. Not everyone knows each other personally or has numbers.

Is the meet-up time set in stone?

Any chances of it being changed to maybe an hour later?

If not, I may have to meet at the first stop of the cruise (wherever that will be).

Yea i realize a 6-6:30 meet up and 7 am go time is pretty early, but like i said i would like for everyone to to get the most out of the day.

Thinking about it now seems really early and some of you will have to leave really early that day depending on where your from to come out to Ocotillo.

So the question is would you all like the meet up time to be changed to 7-7:30 am and a 8 am go time or keep it the scheduled times? If the majority would like the later meet and go time then it will be changed. If not then the times stay as the are.

It's not a big deal, I will just have to meet you all at Blow Sand, Devils Slide, Shell Reef or wherever your trail plans will be.

Leaving at 8am will give us enough time to do our intended loop plus plenty of time to play around on the hills and whatnot. I am fine with the time change.

Sorry for the minor hijack, but this sounds awesome. I just got my truck though, have not done any offroading with it (and not much in the past either). I've only heard of Ocotillo once or twice, could I survive out there with a stock TRD Offroad? I don't really have any "offroad gear" (winch, jack, gas cans, w/e?) either. This is a hobby I want to get into for sure but for the sake of not tearing up a brand new truck (and I'm broke) I figured I'd ease into it over the next few years.

I guess my main question is could my factory truck and lack of off road driving experience do alright out there? At the least I'd like to come get a little dusty and camp out, but it would be fun to go out and try the trail.

Yes you can take your stock truck out there. Actually your stock truck is already better off than the 5-lug versions but even than, you will have fun in it. People take their cars out there so don't worry, have fun, and take your time out there (don't try to chase everybody and end up breaking something). If I have an open seat and you're worried about breaking the truck you can cruise with me but you may have to find a helmet to wear (don't want you to hit your head on the cage).
