All the early 90's 1500's I see on the road are rusted to hell and back... fenders, bumpers, rockers. Just plain ugly.

The Ram I saw was a 2006ish, and almost 6" around the rear wheels had completely rotted off.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they stopped using galvanized steel when they switched body designs in '94.
Of course, you have to keep in mind that everything from the 90's is now AT LEAST 15 years old...Rust should be unsurprising.

I wonder how much the aluminum on the new Fords will drive up the cost of the truck. Thought it would be cheaper to use fiberglass on some panels.

It's the gross amounts that's surprising. I'm plenty familiar with rotted floorboards and the like, I grew up in a 10-20 year old used POS car type of family. I used to be able to trampoline on the carpet of this POS as a youngster:

Ours was of course, powder blue.

I'd have thought so too. I wonder if they ran into challenges with painting the trucks, or with supply?

Do they use Calcium Chloride on the roads down your way? Because that stuff eats away at metal unbelievably fast. When we switched to from rock salt to CC around here it was incredible how much faster cars were rotting out.

Sometimes they'll pre-treat with the slurry, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do that before this next storm. Then as they plow they lay down the salt in frightening amounts.

They do the same thing around here. And the roads suck, so they can't scrape them clean without beating up the plows. The compromise is to do a crap job plowing, and then wind the salt to the road and hope it all melts. Talk about a slush bomb.
I think the roads were actually safer when they used salted sand. Sure, there was snow on the road, but you didn't get the ridiculous slushpiles that break traction and put you in the ditch. Packed snow and sand are predictable; slush isn't.

Around here they spray the roads and you can see the white lines of what ever chemical they use left on the road. The roads here also get chewed up as a result and the plow job as a result sucks. Then they salt the bejesus out of the roads to compensate. Then you hit a pothole that was covered in snow/slush. Good times winter driving.

Same around here. What i hate is that my New tires even though they are the same size are actually a touch wider than my old ones and they stick out that 1/4 inch farther. Just enough to be outside my fender flares and they throw roadsalt all over the damn truck. It looks like a powdered donut.

Same here. I've got a hose that I lug in and out of the cellar so that I can hose the truck down every weekend, to at least get the salt off of it. I don't stress too bad about the road dirt during the winter, but the salt keeps me awake at night, haha!

I went through an automatic car was Sunday just to get the salt off. Everything underneath was almost solid white from all of the salt.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Jacob had it Saturday/Sunday. Stomach ache, puking, fever, shakes, the whole nine yards. No fun at all. I felt so bad. He's feeling better now though.

I'm going to wait until after this next storm, and temps stay in the 20's (I hope). Salt spray does a great job covering up my scratched and dented body panels, so it's not all bad?

I think a backup camera would be pretty cool. I would love to see my trailer hitch.

I love mine, and it makes me look like king shit when I back up perfectly onto a trailer.
