all i need is some money to donate to a friend so he can afford to purchase materials, and have something for his time, then I need to take time to visit our wonderful friend.

i also have another project for this awesome friend, that being a custom front bumper using a piece of 4"x8" steel rectangular tube. might be easier to just buy a premade front bumper, but this would be way more unique.

legit just means it costs more to me, because i have to pay sales tax, and a small portion toward your business insurance and license.

It's a much better business model than cowering behind my shop, and worrying about working out in my driveway...!

Nothing is set in stone yet.. Have some huge hospital bills to pay down before anything happens. It fucking kills me to put money that could be going towards equipment towards a fucking shit asshole huge hospital bill. I could afford a CNC plasma table with how much they're bending me over for.

    Sorry. Venting.

medical bills in general are crazy. my youngest brother was in childrens hospital about a year and a half ago for 10 days. we estimated that he racked up about a quarter million dollar bill there.

part of the problem is that medical places (hospitals, clinics, etc) are operated by nurses and doctors who care, but run by people who deal with dollars and cents, and a profit must be made. doctors cost a lot of money due to the fact that they need the money to pay off the debt they accrue from schooling for 8-12 years, and schools are out to make money as well. everything ends up going back to money. one thing i was talking to another guy about was that a hospital bill to a private person can easily be double the price of the same thing to somebody who has insurance, because the insurance company negotiates the prices.

Yes, it's all about profit. This whole experience has been pretty eye opening and incredibly frustrating at the same time. Don't really feel like this is the time/place to go into detail.. suffice to say that I was charged 231% of what Medicare/Private Insurance would have paid out.

Essentially since I didn't have insurance (due to a clerical error, my policy was cancelled without me being notified.) Fast forward to Nov. and I get a massive infection in my knee..

I'm at the point now where I'm just paying the bills off in full.. And, I'm lucky that I have the resources to do so. I can't even begin to imagine the position that I would be in if I had a family to raise. It's just insane the amount of money that I have paid thus far. Could have bought a tubing bender/notcher/horizontal band saw with what I've shelled out in the last hour.

Needless to say, I'm damn sure I've got insurance, now.

All in all, it sucks - but I've made it clear to them that I'm going to pay everything off - worked with a private consultant to attempt to negotiate a lower rate for the main bill.. Sending the proposal off today.

I can see how shit like this can essentially ruin people's lives. I'm just very fortunate that I'm in the position that I'm in.

Cool!! Glad they're working out for you. Definitely looked pretty (is that the right word to use?).. I'll be trying to expand in a few months, get some stickers going, etc..

Got a wicked sunburn from welding 'em on!

When I have funding Jake, I will definitely be coming to you for sliders. I am also planning on trying to use you to help me custom build a front bumper. Any leftover steel I have will be yours if you want it as well.

    ALRIGHTY!

So this offer came to me today - and i'm just thinking about it. (I'll also post this in the SAS BS thread for their opinions.)
The offer is a trade straight across.
    The Trade:
2002 Tacoma Double cab, 93,000 miles on the clock.

    Exterior 8/10 and interior 9/10.
    Clean title!
Sas with sky off-road full width kit
Dana 44 hi pinion 1/2" thick axle walls
    Dana 60 rear
    4.88 gears f/r
    no lockers
    39.5" truxs swamper 2 30% and 2 %50
New hi steer knuckles arms arp studs
    New steering box
    Frame plated

Again this would be a straight across trade...I may keep a couple things lol

Needs smaller tires, especially with only 4.88 gears. It would be an extremely tempting offer for me though. Assuming the SAS isn't a half ass job. You can always throw a bigger axle under the front or put some high end shafts in the 44. I would prefer it sit lower, but that's just me.

Definitely wouldn't be able to fault you for trading.

    But that one's not a LIMITED!!! :D

j/k j/k, wouldn't be bad straight-across. How many miles on yours? And have you had the chance to drive it yet?

lol that was cody's response....not limited..

I have about 145k on mine. and no i have not driven it yet.

Well all of this would be assuming that i find the fabrication to be amazing and this truck runs and drives great. The thing is, i would prefer a link suspension, and this thing has near shit tires with no lockers in the axles either....
I mean low miles don't mean much when i just want a weekend warrior. Only stock rigs are good for miles.

He is selling it for 16k, or willing to trade for a smaller toyota or diesel. We got to talking and since mine is only on 33s he liked the idea of trading. Plus mines hell clean.

I wouldn't be driving it 50 miles to work every day like I currently do- it would e my weekend rig - take me to motocross races, snow wheel and trails just like my current rig, only tougher trails.
