I'll be driving to Gardnerville in Nevada this week and was wondering about gun laws. I already researched the gun laws in Nevada and they are pretty laid back about it. I Can carry open or have it out in the open in vehicle when driving. If you want to conceal you can as long as you have Nevada state permit. So I know ill be good to go in NV. Its CA I'm worried about.

I'll be driving thru CA and all the research I've come across is different. I've searched these forums and CA sites and am getting different answers.

From what I'm getting is you can't have a gun in a holster out in the open in the truck. You obviously can't conceal it without special permission to have a permit. The only way you can travel with the gun (springfield xd40sc) is in a locked case in the trunk of the car? my truck doesnt have a trunk...

I use the standard mag that comes with the gun with only holds 9 rds. But you can't but my gun in CA because of the extra high capacity mag it comes with. also read somewhere it cant have a loaded mag loaded in the same case when traveling??

I've tried researching the answers but need a definite answer please.

    Thanks!

while in G'ville, make sure to visit the range by the dump at $2/carload. it is about 5 min from my house...

the PRK gunrules are bad and confusing, i have heard that the best way to transport is for the firearm to be in one locked case, and the ammo/mags in another with no ammo in the mags.

i would not advise open carry in this area; if you need info on getting a NV non-res CCW drop a line.

In California you are screwed, guns are totally outlawed, every one is required to turn in their guns or face prosecution,or at least that is what the goofy liberals want. give the criminals all the right's and don't protect yourself. OK I am getting off my box now.

    Seriously, in CA.
No open carry, unless you are hunting, duh.
When traveling the weapon must be unloaded in a locked container, separate from the ammo.
No more than a ten round clipp, this is a biggie, don't have big clips , big chips are ok:D

    Thanks for the replies.

I was born and raised in the bay area but there is no way I could live there without being able to have whatever gun I want and to carry it openly or concealed.

Road trips suck now. I'll use your guys advice. Guns comin with.

Well, there is the trade off's, what the temp been down there?
But I hear ya. Just behave for the short time you are in CA. and you'll have a good time and forget the whole gun thing before long.
