    Tepui. ALL the way. From what i've heard from Steve@ Southeast Overland(local off road/recovery expo shop) the Customer service from Tepui is top notch and although they are similar as hell, i'd rather pay more for something and have good CS if i ever needed it.

    I think the hard shells are nice for SUV's or it you're mounting the tent high up where you want something a little more aerodynamic but yes they are pricy!

    I want to say that there WAS one manufacturer in the US but they went out of business...can't remember for sure though, its been a while since I did the research

    The hard case Autohome RTTs that many think are made in the USA are actually made in Italy. Most others were first developed either in South Africa or Australia. Now there are lots of Chinese copies of the African and Australian tents. CVT and Tepui are both copies of other brands.

    You want some sticker shock on a RTT? Check out the T-top from Eezi-Awn. That tent is badass and the quality is at the top of the food chain. If money was no object I'd have a RTT from Eezi-Awn (made in South Africa). They really are very nice tents. But the family size T-Top is almost $5K!!

    Definitely hard to justify for the average person like all of us. But if you were doing legit expeditions for months at a time, it would be worth every penny. The quality speaks for itself and it would hold up to extended use in extreme conditions far better than the less expensive options.

    The cheaper ones are more than reasonable for the average car camper like every single one of us here. Nobody on this forum is doing true expeditions.

    Very true. For weekend trips the average RTT is great and I expect mine to last me for years and years. I do use it alot - last summer I was out on roughly 20 camping trips that totaled over 35 nights in the tent. Roughly 10 of those nights were in Yellowstone/Grand Teton where hotels cost over $100 a night but campsites are $10-20 a night. I'd say I'll get my money's worth out of the tent soon enough :cool:
