Yeah. Oh well. We'll get a wheeling day. Do you know when AFC opens up? We can do a Sunday run.

What do your monday/wednesday/fridays look like. I'm usually already in orem for school so that would be most convenient. If not, we can figure something out.

Do you still have this? I may be interested depending on price and difficulty of mounting/dismounting for various applications.

Hey guys, a couple of Utah specific questions... my ten year old son is hassling me to ask you guys if you know where the good places to go find rocks are. He is way into geodes and stuff now because they are studying rocks/Utah landforms in school. I taught fourth grade for years, but never went out and got rocks. I just bought rock kits from the science supply places, and borrowed rocks from the other teachers. Any rockhounds that know where to go? :)

Secondly, I met a kid yesterday who is joining our ranks. He just bought an identical truck to mine (2012 white 4 door TRD Tx Pro). He's a really cool young man, and was wondering if any of you have connections for having some audio installation done that is NOT Car Concepts or the like?

I used to do car audio on the side out of my garage to help pay my bills in college and I made a college student version of a small fortune redoing work from Car Concepts, Future Shop, Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics and a couple of other local jokers. They were butchers. I spent a lot of time pulling wiring and trim pieces at junkyards in order to go back to reinstalling factory wiring and then rebuilding everything so it could always quickly and easily go back to factory (for me... it is just the way it should be done in my view, so I do it that way). I saw WAY too many lease vehicles that had been absolutely sliced and diced to make it easier for an incompetent installer and I had to put it back to where it needed to be and frankly should have been.

Since those days I've gotten to the point where I really like just leaving in the factory system and using that with my iPhone for music through bluetooth, so I'm not sure who is doing great work anymore. I have done a lot of work on FJ Cruisers that I owned as I built them up into what I wanted, but most of this was stuff done back behind and under the dash as I thought the factory sub and speakers were just fine. I was more into adding offroad navigation, CB, iPad, and other gadgetry.

If you guys have a lead on a small local business or even one of you that does stellar install/upgrade work on Tacomas specifically with no butchery then he'd love for me to pass the info on to him. He is like me in that he says the Tacoma is designed so well and looks so good and clean that he doesn't want it chopped up. I know that with speakers specifically a lot of places butcher door panels and some of the behind seat sub installations I have seen are absolutely pathetic and make me downright angry. Anybody that has the connections on getting some good connections let us know! :)

    Thanks all.

As for the whole "After market stereo" situation, I am not to sure who to use.
Car Concepts installed my Remote Engine Start and did an awesome job, Not to sure if it's because I work at Mark Miller Toyota and we use them a lot but they did great!!

As for finding Geode's and rocks im not to into it but my brother is obsessed. He has a shit ton of books for southern Utah and just the whole state of Utah.

I know there are a lot of amazing spots to find stuff like that, At Topaz Mountain. Try this link- http://geology.utah.gov/utahgeo/rockmineral/collecting/topaz.htm

But that's about the only place I personally know about because he always tires dragging me out with him.

    Hope this helps!

I haven't done anything with rocks since I was a kid, but there is supposed to be a place along the Pony Express Trail that has geodes, and lots of other stuff semi-nearby.

That, along with the Thomas Range mentioned above should give you a very good starting point with more than enough to keep anyone very busy.

Granted, it is a pretty good drive, but if you plan a day around it, it could be a fun family thing. Some of us are joining the FJ Cruiser crowd on a run on Feb 22. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/utah/245505-pony-express-run.html Its posted on the Utah Tacoma Facebook page. Then again, you may have to wait till Spring, as it might all be covered in snow at the moment.

Stuff and things that make it better.
I was just out that way, small write up on my build page. Its not too bad, just muddy. Another cool spot out there just west of Delta is U dig fossils http://www.u-digfossils.com/index.html it looks like it's closed until the beginning of March though. I took some out of town relatives there last year and they had a blast digging up Trilobites.

I have a good friend who owns a modest but VERY knowledgeable rock shop in slc. They take People out to the best places. Www.rocks4u.com is their website and they are great people. Tell Rick Dalrymple that Kyle sent you. If nothing else take your son to their shop. Amazing collection.

Sliders look good. I hope they work well for you. I've unfortunately seen more than one set have issues and dent more easily than I would have thought. I think Jerry builds good stuff so I don't know what is causing the issues with the sliders, but I was just surprised by what I've seen with a few different sets of them.

Well then I will just keep my fingers crossed :).

But if worse come to worse and they end up not holding up I will go elsewhere for my next set of sliders!

But they seem pretty damn tuff and seem like they will hold up, But only time will tell.

You guys are awesome as always. Thanks all for the rock and stereo install information. My son is going to be stoked. I'm putting together a little binder of our plans for spring break and summer vacation, so I'll get all of this info in there. I will make sure to go to Dalrymple's rock place. That sounds really cool. I have taught a ton of kids with that last name. Probably related to Rick somehow. I'll have to ask.

I am putting stuff into my GPS as we speak. :)
