Star Toyota in Houston Changed Mind, TSB is Complete !

The dealership (Star Toyota near Houston) did the TSB on my '09 DC SR5. At first they refused and said I did not have a problem. I forwarded the thread I started here to them along with pictures of the sacked springs when I had about 600 lbs in the bed. About a week later I was called out of the blue by the parts guy who said my warranty parts were in. I had no idea, nobody ever called me. So anyway I made an appointment and they did the whole thing. I haven't driven it yet because I was out of town, but my wife says it drives a little firmer, almost like a truck!

Thanks to everybody who read / responded to my original post. The dealership management looked at the post and I think it helped them change their mind. Especially when they saw the effect this kind bs has on current customers. Here is the op....

Do I need to do this with my truck? Is brand new? How can I tell?

The TSB replaces the rear springs and all four shocks with ones that are more heavy duty. It is NOT a safety concern unless you haul big loads. The down side is it will ride more like a truck. The upside is it will be better for hauling heavy loads and/or trailers. It is useless if you are intending to do a full suspension lift front and rear as you will be replacing the parts anyway. Your truck has to qualify by vin,truck model, part number, and year (kinda). Print out and look at the tsb to see if you qualify. It is posted all over the place here. Good luck!

Thanks.. No plans to haul andy big stuff, but my V12 show car, other babe It weights around 4354 lb.... Will that be a problem?

 

Sweet. I tried Joe Myers, but the SA and the Shop Supervisor said no way. It was a "common problem" and Toyota designed it that way. Whatever.

Star is a little too far for me, but I'm going to try and see if I can get someone on the North Side to do it.

 

Ethan, you'll know the first time you tow. The rear suspension will probably hit the bump stops if you have the three leaf springs.
