So with all the recent snow we've been having in CO, I keep having this issue with snow building up between the front part of my rocker panels, wheel well, and frame. Once I stop driving, it freezes up into this hard block of ice. When I go to drive again, every bump I hit makes this awful crunching sound. Took my forever to figure out what it was the first time, and now I have to go out there with a screw driver every time I drive and break up all the ice.

Does anyone else have this problem? I don't have front mudflaps so my 265/75/R16 Duratracs won't rub, which I'm guess is contributing to or causing the problem. Are there any negative effects of not breaking the ice off? Is something going to pull apart or rip off if I hit a huge bump?

I also live in Colorado (south metro area) and I just noticed the same noise. My son said he can feel the tapping with his foot on the floorboard. I was going to look at it but its 7° outside as I speak so ef that. I thought it might be the struts. I also do not have mud flaps.

I had this exact issue for the first time on the weekend - it had snowed, warmed up some, then froze to solid icicles all around the front left cab mount and down the mudflap- and yup, it sounded horrible. I would expect not having mudflaps means the snow and ice will pack in the area from driving on snowy roads. Have you tried the 265/75s with flaps? Never had any rubbing with mine though they weren't DTs. My 235/85r16 DTs are even a bit taller, and never rub.

This is crazy, I came on here looking for the same thing.

I live in Ontario and my truck started doing something very similar yesterday morning. I thought it was in the suspension but do not see any issues. Each flex of the truck or little bump causes a thumping under the drivers side foot well are that you can feel with your feet. I thought it was the actual cab mount at one point. I don't see where the ice is but I was guessing that was it after another overnight freeze thaw. Problem is not going to get warm enough to melt anytime soon. Will slide by the dealer to have them confirm if possible.

Noticed the same thing today. Only on left turns for me. Can also feel it through the floorboard.

Yeah, really have to get under the rocker panel with the screwdriver to get all the ice out. I bought the truck without mudflaps and don't really want to buy a pair.

I found the sound while turning was just ice build up in the wheel well, not what I'm talking about really. This is more of a crunch sound when you hit a bump. Good to kmow others have the same issue though, does anyone know if driving with it like that will damage the car? I'll try to take some pictures but it's -12F here right now so I may not be trying to be outside for very long...

Same thing here in Québec. Mostly around the cab mount on driver side. When leaving in place with a lot of snow fall, sometimes the bed will fill with snow and ice pièces will be trap in the edge between the back window and the box. But this one is very easy to find. Dont think this can harm anything. It's not a solid block of ice created from an accumulation of water and there is plenty of space for expansion.

I think I have the same problem. I only get a noise/ rattling at slow speed and some crazy noises when turning left. But I looked and nothing is rubbing.

I have an appointment tomorrow at the dealership. I just don't know enough about my truck to get rid of ice and call it good.

i have the sound too, but i have mud flaps on the front. I noticed it after a lot of melt ran into the drains below the wipers on Friday of last week. I suppose it comes from up by the windshield then freezes before it drains, may need to clean debris out from that area. I did park in a sunny lot the other day and have not heard it since, hopefully its all out but we have had sub freezing temps for almost a week straight

I had a 2005 and 2009, and never had this issue until I got the 2013.

Didn't have mudflaps on any of them (because I always take them off).

It can happens in tree different places: Near the cab mount in front where the mud flap are attached, at the base of the windshield Under the wipers and sometimes in the space between the bed and the back window.

The soud is mostly like a big icecub hitting the shell of a metallic container.
