No the length determines the amount of lift (until you take into account the weight it needs to support). The springrate/weight ratio and shock combination will determine ride quality. With the same shocks, the 881 and 882 will ride the same. 883 with the same shock and same weight will ride stiffer because of a higher spring rate.

I think the 883s ride great, so I can only assume the 882s would give an awesome ride. With some weight up front I bet the 883s will only get better.

Just to clarify, they will all feel stiff and bouncy at first. It took a little over 500 miles for all three sets of springs to calm down. Yes, I have tried them all.
I am running the 882's and very happy with them.
My build thread might shed some light on what to expect.

This is all true. When new even the 882s felt *firm* on the road. The second day I had mine I hit the dirt and all my concerns were gone. Behaved extremely well in the dirt and felt really good. But it's true it will take a little time to break them in so don't judge the ride until then.

I don't know that you would want this exact one, the slider window near the truck cab has 2 broken windows in it and I need to replace the pistons that hold open the side window. But other than that, it is a good top! I just recently added the yakima rails to the top so that I can put my yakima bars up there. Good for hauling the canoe!

I have a question for you guys running dakars with an add a leaf, why not just run the all pro leafs instead? I am currently trying to decide Whether to go with dakars or the ap's on my v6 AC. I have a topper on pretty much year round and would like to maintain some rake for hauling camping gear and what not. I currently plan on using OME 882's with nitros up front and an all pro baja bumper. Maybe a winch in the future. Any feedback appreciated.

There are people who do just that. IMO it depends on the kind of weight you plan to carry in the truck. The AllPro Expo springs are designed for at least a couple hundred extra pounds in the truck at all times. If you don't carry that weight all the time the APs are going to be pretty stiff. At the time I started building my truck I didn't know for sure the kind of weight I'd be carrying. I have used OME suspensions of 3 of my 5 trucks and I love the quality and ride of OME products so I knew what I was dealing with. Now at this point my truck carries constant weight that the AP springs would make sense on my truck but I've been happy with OME so there is no reason to change.

Thanks for the reply. You're actually the guy I was hoping to respond. I don't think I will be carrying weight as often as you are with the exception of my canopy. Would the dakars paired with the 882's up front still provide some rake? I don't plan on using the trim packers unless I decide later on I want more lift. Also, approx how much front lift did you get with your current set up now that everything has settled?

I needed to add 1.5 shackles and remove shell on mine to make it .5" rake. See pic.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1391544317.239896.jpg

    Here is before with shell:ImageUploadedByTapatalk1391544428.946328.jpg

    And after with shell:

My .02 is to install aal to start with. I'm kicking myself now for not doing that.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like I just may do that. I appreciate the feedback guys. I will hopefully post some pics when I am rocking the full OME set up.

If you are going with the full OME setup I would recommend to definitely use the D6XL extra leaf. If you use a canopy you'll want the extra leaf if you want a little rake.

I still have a little rake with the canopy and the rear bumper etc. but thats with the extra leaf and 1.5" shackles.

DCSB's have always looked painfully awkward to me; proportion is all out of whack
That cap does wonders, though, I think: really balances it out; looks great

To each their own. DCSB's are the ones that look the best proportioned to me.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
I to am wishing I would have added the D6XL AAL when I installed my dakars. I know I don't have full OME but in regard to the Dakar leaf spring... without weight I was sitting level with eibach coils up front. After I added a constant 150-200#'s I was sitting nose high just a tad. I added 1.5" shackles and now I have a decent rake(what I'm wanting). I plan on adding a hard top very soon, at that point I would want to add the OME AAL.

I also have debated switching leafs to the AP's but when carrying weight I have been happy with the dakars. They don't allow the truck to "sag" when the bed is loaded with 400-500#'s, so I'm happy with their performance. I'm sure the expos wouldn't sag either but why switch when these perform well.
