He probably had contest insurance. Although that is pretty stupid

I did a case study on him in business school. Learned he's been running a debt free business for over 30 years..... he'll be fine (other than the fact that the only time he's not at work he's in the hospital).

 

He didn't insure either of his two wagers where he lost a combined $7.6M.

 

I watched an interview with him th'other day and he said he doesn't mind, and that it's just another way to get new (younger) customers and keep the ones he already has. You have to think how big this motherfucker's furniture empire really is. I'm sure while he felt the loss, it was more of a tickle than a donkey punch - otherwise he wouldn't have happily made the bet. batshit crazy, yes. great marketing, fuck yes. how many of those people do you think are going to come back to him simply for that experience? or maybe just to rub it in?

 

That dude has more money that he knows what to do with it all.

I'm betting there's a substantial number if those people getting refunds who will take that cash into the store and buy more stuff. If you've never been to his store, it's worth taking a field trip..... you hit the nail on the head when you said empire. It's full of really nice stuff and exotic animals.

Oh god, not use to drinking so much santo!!! Not hungover, but close to it.

 

Yup, some will turn around and buy more stuff from him, same day. Others will take the cash and run so they won't spend it again. I've been on there a few times. You can easily buy two things and be up to 6 grand, or you can buy his bed room or living room sets and be up 6 grand.

 

Not to mention the basket ball court he has inside.
