    Odds and Ends
I used to have a Yeti 45 and it really was a great cooler. I bucked it out of the back of the truck in San Felipe and the lid didn't even open. Would hold ice forever.
I used it several times in Bahia de Los Angeles to attract fish. I could tie it off to a bouy anchor several miles offshore and mark it on the GPS. We would come back several hours later and bait fish woudl be attracted to is and typically there would be Dorado and Yellowtail around it, kinda like creating your own surface structure. I always used the Yeti because it would not take on water and sink like other coolers.
The winds down there can get bad at times so no more cooler, will definitely want to replace it with another someday.

Negative on testing. There is plenty of that on the interwebs and these things are officially bear tested!

Yeah they are expensive. Apparently if you charge them by putting them in a fridge or freezer open ahead of time it last even longer. Plus you can use dry ice with them.

Wow now that is crazy! Talk about thinking outside the box... or should I say cooler? Get it? Becau....

There are advantages to having a full size truck and bed, that would be one.

Once the weather turns a bit milder I plan on copying a lot of the design from this one on expo portal

Will skip the hot on board water system so extensions will be full length. The build is on a Frontier which puts it close to the size we have to work with.

Every once in awhile a controller would shit or a bad connection along the line, and then the light would "walk away" until it got hung up, normally blinding the gunner.

But you're right, they are pretty bad-ass with the in-cab movement of the lights. They certainly saved our butts a couple times.

Shouldn't need any the top is all 3/4 in plywood and uses that lip on the side of the second gen bed as well as the wheel well. All pretty sturdy, doesn't even flex when I lay down on it

I love them both. Dash controls and remotes for both had to change the freq on one because they where on the same channel.

Hey all, just spent my off & on free time the last couple days reading through the entire forum getting ideas for how I want to mod my truck. As for the use of the truck I want a multi-pitpose rig that can do what ever I want well without spending 100k$ on making it a specialized, single-purpose rig. My days of wrapping up in my sleeping bag next to the fire, or under my CJ-5 if it was raining have been over for a while now, but I also dont need plasma TV's or literally the kitchen in the truck either. I & my wife still use a ground tent as a RTT is impractical for us for several reasons. We like the long-term self-sufficiency of an expedition style truck, as we commonly spend lot of time in the woods exploring, camping & on long hunting trips. I plan on building the truck accordingly. Ya'll keep up the good work, maybe we'll see you in the wilderness someday.

I hope not to be in combat...dont know about the messed up looking thing comment, it has been used in the field, smaller and more articulated, buy one of these or two of those. Seems to make sense.

"messed up looking" was in regards to its design in respect to long and skinny arms holding the lamp, skinny little base, cheap looking switch.

I've seen the go-lights, and spent hundreds of hours using them. The switches are sealed, the lights are robust and hard to destroy. IMO they'll treat the buyer much better in the long run. I haven't used the LED model, but I imagine in our application less power draw would certainly be an added benefit.

hundreds of hours? then I see why you would want one, I dont think I would use it more than once or twice. it's one of those 'I think it would look good on the truck' mod but I would probably be better off without.

The go-lights were really important convoying all of Iraq, which we almost always did at night (having a mobile search light while safely buttoned up was key). There were two on each truck, they went on leaving the FOB and stayed on until we hit the destination. I could see the benefit on a trail rig driving at night or overlanding, but conventional lighting may be more appropriate/cost-effective if you won't use them that much.

The led version of the go lights are rediculious in price . I went with two spots on my truck they pull 5.5 amps each, so not all bad. I payed about 500 for both and mounted the in cab switches inside and kept the remotes ready in my cubby. They make different lenses for spot and flood and have been thinking of ordering at least one flood lens to try out. But since I have two mounted high I use one close and one far away.
