A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
They are going to destroy many of the MRAPs currently in Trashcanistan, if I was over there I would consider "reallocating" a couple off of the scrap heap. They may salvage as much as possible and put them up on GSA for bid, dunno.

From what I can gather the fleet in theater will be destroyed in theater by third party contractors.

So they won't spend the money shipping it home, just scrap it in country?

Makes sense. Something tells me though it'll be like the Russians leaving behind the AKs and us leaving all those Jeeps in vietnam.

From what I've read and heard it's cheaper a to shred them in place as opposed to ship them home and rebuild them.

Yes. Buy one directly from the govt auction. They only take out sensitive systems like BFT and comms equipment. The drivetrain and chassis are unmolested. I know the national guard had been turning in their gen 1s the last few years.

Just got two 24 gallon action packers. I like the suez and how well they fit. Now to make them useful. I was thinking using one for recovery gear but that's all I got at te moment.

yeah it was about 70$ shipped for them both from Amazon. What kinda gear should i get? I don't want to spend 150$ in a bunch of stuff i'll never use but i'd like to get the essentials for if i see someone stuck in a ditch or something like that. I hate seeing people stuck and i don't have anything to help with...

Yeah A true H1 would be fun. But so expensive. Maybe we should buy a few and do luxury off road rentals. Just no celebrity's.

Snatch strap! Also, I know it won't fit in there but Maxtrax are AWESOME! An e-tool would fit in there nicely.

I have a couple different sized shackles (1/2", 5/8", 3/4"), 20'x3" recovery strap, a 10' of lifting(grade110) 3/8" chain with a slip hook on one end and a grab on the other, a couple 6' continuous lifting straps, and a Warn hitch mounted shackle. 1.5gal of fuel. I also carry tire chains, but you probably don't have to worry about that.

I was trying to help a corolla out of the ditch last winter and didn't have anything to attach to their car, a guy pulled up with a chain like the one I described. The slip hook fit in the tie down point of the corolla perfectly, and I was able to get them out. You should be able to get all that I just described for about $100-$150, and that would take care of most all simple recoveries.
Look at wire rope and rigging stores for the shackles and the lifting straps. They are rated high enough and usually cheaper than "offroad" stuff.
And make sure if you are using cable or chain to keep people back. A loaded chain has a ton of energy just waiting to destroy something. I think ARB sells a weighted blanket, but a heavy coat will do the same thing.

I've talked to the DRMO folks that run the government auctions trying to get my hands on one of them. Most everything is up for auction accept them. They claim that the government is worried that they are being bought and studied by the enemy in order to hurt more troops. Instead they are being sent out to be shredded as you said. They wouldn't even let us bid on just the drivelines. (and that was with us standing there in uniform!)

I see a couple of you guys loving on the H1, but that diesel is controlled by this shitty control box which have been known to quit. It's also a 24v system. You want a bulletproof motor go old school- carbureted, mechanical timing, ignition coil, mechanical fuel pump. Simpler is better.
