Break clean is not a safe bet. Most good brakeclean eats paint.

    Degreaser. Simple green. Purple power.

Non- Chlorinated Brake cleaner is safe as long as you don't let it sit on your paint. I spray it on a clean terry cloth to remove tar and hard to remove crap from my paint
never had a problem or damage to the finish at all. But in your case, for what you want to do the biodegradable citrus cleaner or simple green (and a lot of scrubbing)a few times is a better option.

i used to do plumbing and would have to take this giant threading machine in the back of my truck and the oil pan for that thing would spill every time... any soap that cuts grease should work decently. but just plain water won't do much. most of the time i would just wipe up the oil with a dirty rag and id just leave the stuff i couldn't get and it would always just go away eventually.

x2 but I just used Simple Green and a brush. Brush down the bed real good and it'll look like new again. And then a week later it'll look dirty again :( if you abuse it like I do mine
