They look awesome and great usability, but I live in Portland and the commies think they deserve what you have. And my dog would just eat the pouches.

Have you loaded up your bag and tried to walk any distance with it?

The fact that they dont have any back support ruins this bag for me. I took mine out and walked my dog a few miles and after about 25-30 mins the pack got very uncomfortable.

they are the same pattern as the Browning covers that I have, they are fully adjustable and fit well on my seats! However a valid point was brought up about the interference with the side air bags, I never thought about that.

I was close to pulling the trigger on these, as the capacity was great. But in the questions about the product, someone brought the lack of an inner frame with rigidity up, and I passed when the answer was no.

i really wanted these..... but you guys have kind of steered me away. even though my truck is already a giant target. yeah probably wont get them.... but so tacticool

not this perticular bag, no. your right they do give very little back support. but for $30 i could not pass it up.
my plan with these bags are just get home bags that will stay in the truck. they will only have items to get you home safe, and be able to be out for 1-2 days. that is where my real bag is with external frame ect.

for me, this bag will be a pretty much a 1 time use. just to get me home. so i didnt want to spend a large amount of money just for the bag.

and im 20 miles from home while working.

i plan on about 15-20 lbs.
you guys are making me want to load mine up when i get home and go on a walk. i havent finished it yet for the get home bag.

They are awesome, you just have to be more creative about storage and what not. I thought about getting them, but then I realized sometimes my truck stays in downtown Portland while I get hammered and if I leave it at a trail head it would be too tempting for thieves. Definitely trying to fly under the radar.

For those of you in colder climates (it's 11 here in OKC right now ), how do you store water in your truck? I've got some MREs behind the seat, but not sure how I'd go about keeping water back there in the winter.

Same as you, I also carry a small stove and an aluminum pot. "smart" brand water bottles don't crack like the cheap walmart ones. Soda bottles handle freezing well too.

i've been having a lot of fun with those penny stoves, think that will have to be added to a kit in the back of my truck. oh and almost 4L of methanol costs like $16 so a jug and a stove to melt snow may not be efficient but it will work

i thought about getting those, but decided not too as you cant filter water into a bottle, you can only filter it into your mouth.

Try a small cooler. If you are in your truck every day or so, with the heat on it should help warm it up to temp enough to keep from freezing too bad. Crack the lid while driving to help. Then they should hold for quite a while in a closed cooler. Think of the same effect as when you put cold bottles in to keep them cool in the summer. Just don't use glass bottles, should be fine.

Also good for other types of food stuff that really shouldn't be frozen or go through too many freeze/thaw cycles.

In the truck you mean? Like how much? I keep my bob on me all the time. If I go inside, it goes inside. Work, home, on the road, etc. I have enough food and water to make it a week or more at all times. Rice stores well, especially vacuum packed. MRE's are heavy and taste like shiet, but they also handle the heat well. Pemmican. Ramen noodles. Instant taters. Vacuum packed jerky. Canned fruit. All store well in temperate climates.

Nah, dude I had a can of hormel chili from the seventies and it was still good. I also lived in the Mojave desert, in an RV for a few years. You don't know hot. Interestingly, yoders canned bacon seems to taste better above 120F. The congealed fat sort of dissolves into deliciousness. Just get a case of MRE's for the truck. It has everything you need and will last ten days of fat and happy or 14+ days if you ration a little.

Amen to that. I love my Rush 72, and it's huge and also very comfortable to wear when it's loaded full. Tough bags with flawless seams and zippers, and I like that it fully opens so you can find a piece of gear without having to unload half of the bag. Molle system all over the outside allows for so much expansion. I carry 7 days worth of all weather gear and food in it at all times, plus water bladders and filtration. Clothing is different, as I always bring weather-appropriate clothing in a separate bag to change into if SHTF and I had to go mobile with the 72.

I have a Rush 12 as my day pack and used to use it as a light BOB. It could hold 3 days worth of supplies and food easily, but the 72 gives so much more room for extra goodies and comfort items.

I had this exact pack as my first official BOB and it did the job as a last resort. I would have hated to carry this pack fully loaded for more than a couple miles, but again it would have gotten the job done in a pinch. I had it for a year and threw it in the truck whenever I went outdoors, then one day I was loading the outer lower pouch pretty full and I fairly easily tore the zipper off all along the seam. Glad it failed me then, instead of in the field when I needed it. The pocket was still usable, just not closeable. I kept lots of small items in there, and without being able to zip it closed I was guaranteed to lose things out of it.

The pack is fine for up to about 10 lbs before it starts to bow along the back and not wear properly. I also require a good waist belt support system from my packs, and this one doesn't do the job. It's not a last resort BOB in the garage with extra dehydrated foods and Datrex bars.
