Minimum age on concealed carry permits for MS.

 

By the time you got that even close to changed...or even looked at..you'll be of age.

 

I still wanna try to get it changed.

 

Be harder due to it being a state one. Contact your state senetor and rep and governor.

Plus you have the whole federal issue of no one under 21 can buy a hand gun..

My thoughts as well, but i'll be able to say i tried.

Not a issue IMO, it would keep people from carrying.
In some states (MS,AZ,TX, and i think AL,VA,NM, CA and a few others) I can legally be gifted a handgun from a parent or guardian at 18.
And in some states (the ones listed above minus CA) you can legally buy a handgun from a private party at 18.

 

I wish the law was different but alas, then, tht's just more shit I'd want to buy.

Gaining momentum on gun laws is VERY hard, especially right now. If anything, your facing the most opposition that you ever had to grant more gun rights when a majority are looking to limit them.

And chaning a law takes YEARS to do. Its supposed to. Thats how our system works thankfully. People these days tend to over look the fact its supposed to take a long time to make sure the law is right the first go around, instead of the instant pushed through ones that end up always needing tweaked or changed so much they aren't the same or whatever.

point being. Even if you got a TON of support and your reps went for it and all the counties agreeded. You will be 20+ by then.

I don't see how it defeats the purpose, the amount of people who know of that law is fairly low, which lowers the amount of applicants more than if a person got the federal laws changed, and everyone knew that at 18 they could go buy a handgun.

Makes sense, right now i don't even live in the state.

I think what i'm trying to get passed has a lot more of a chance in MS then it ever would in CA.

Which i'm fine with, if it gets passed great, if it doesn't get passed, not the end of the world, but not great either.

ON THAT NOTE! In idaho you can legally open carry a hand gun at 18

i think the best way to get a bill amended is to get a petition going. if a government petition gets big enough the state has to look at it and review it and begin the process

In Alaska you can open carry at 14! but concealed carry is still 21, although no permit is required.
