I have an '09 (manufactured in Oct. '08) teh spring #'s and VIN matched those on the TSB. I took the TSB into the dealer and they looked at the truck made a couple phone calls and ordered me a new set of springs. hey will be installed next Friday. I hope that they are stiffer as I noticed the crappy ride/bottoming out event with even a little weight in the back.

I also have an '09 DBL TRD Sport with the TSM springs. I brought mine in and mentioned the "Harsh Ride" when I have dirt and mulch in the back and after dealing with the service manager he told me to bring it in with a load in the back to see what was happening. I told him that was ridiculous... Oh well - I didn't buy this truck to haul stuff around (but it's nice to know I can when I want) I bought it because its soooo freaking nice to look at. Who needs it!!!!!!

Has anyone noticed a scraping sound like the tire hit the wheel liner when
going over a small drop off at slow speeds? Even going out of my drive-way it make this noise.

That is your mud flaps rubbing the ground. I heard the rub right after I bought my truck and went over a curb. Okay, I drove from my front yard, over the sidewalk, and down the street gutter into the street. It was about a 6" drop but the truck travelled a bit further and scraped the mud flap.

I have noticed it on dips when i was turning. It is slight but I have not been able to see a rub mark.

09 double cab trd, no lift and BFG tires from factory. - no mud flaps.

I just had my 09 TRD Sport DBL CAB leaf spring TSB done. I think the key is to say the right things when asking, I never mentioned I saw it on the internet, I just focused on safety told them with 400lbs in the bed it didnt handle well & I repeated it was unsafe with a load on many times. Good Luck with the "stealerships" I dont think they make as much profit on this warranty work.

Does anyone know if TSB's have expiration dates? If not, I'll wait until the bed at least looks like I haul a lot. Right now it's like brand new. I'm going to finish a basement so I'll wiat until I'm hauling drywall & studs. Stock springs are 3 leaf w/ "G" suffix so I'm assuming the TSB applies. Thanks

TSBs are updated as required and until a new one supersedes the most recent, it's in effect. The TSB applies to 05-08 of specific body/driveline styles- So your '09 is not included.

I do not believe the suffix matters- It's the entire part numbers that are important.
If you are having loading issues- Go talk to the dealership or take your truck there with the drywall and what not in it to show them.

All the TSB does is provide amplifying information about a warranty claim...so treat it as one...

I got the TSB done on my 09 with no problems I didnt have to show the truck loaded or prove the suspension bottomed out. Its all how you ask tell them the truck feels unsafe loaded, it doesnt handle the same loaded. If you stress safety they will do the work w/o too much hassle, If you tell them you saw it on a website they will assume you just want it done because you heard about it.

I'm being told by my dealer that I need to show it loaded, and that they need photos to submit to Toyota to build a product report.

I guess my dealership is a little easier to deal with than most, I didnt even have to argue just stated my case they got the #'s off the springs to order new ones, one week later they installed them. It seems kind of screwed up that it has been left to individual dealer discretion as to who gets the fix & who doesnt, thats pretty bad customer service in my opinion.

That didnt fly with my dealer. I never mentioned this thread or any internet site period. I did mention I was really concerned about safety and I sometimes travel with my 6 year old twin boys in the back and when i have a load of mulch it really feels unsafe. I experience a harsh ride and I am concerned for my family's safety. I was still told to bring it in with a load.

I think they are still upset about me raking them over the coals for the truck itself. I raped them big time!

Oh well - to be honest I rearley haul anything with it so using it to take yard waste to the dump it's fine for me.

I got the spring TSB done on my truck recently and I couldn't be happier. Despite the fact that the thing bottomed out with a relatively small load in the back, the handling always felt funny to me anyways. No longer, those stiffer real springs made the truck a whole different animal. I didn't really notice a stiffer ride, but the truck definetely handles a ton better. My overall opinion is I bought a truck, it should handle like a truck, not like a cadillac.

I guess ya right I still raked them bastards cause I don't need the TSB done anyway. It's not like it's a recall. Ha! I still win - I love me

Just got my TSB done on the rear leafs, it was pretty simple to have them get it done, in fact the service manager didnt even bother checking the #'s he just had them order it. It seems to me the truck wants to not keep its rear wheels down when going thru ruts, bounces around a little too much so I lose traction... anyone notice this, or have an suggestions?
