I've had mine now for about 4 years and I really can't tell that they are wearing at all. This winter was the most bad road snow driving I've done and they did ok, not great but nothing 4 wheel drive couldn't handle. Considering that 98% of my driving is either rain or sun with only a few days of unplowed snowy roads it's easily worth the price. I think I'll probably have to get rid of these because of age before the tread wears thin.

Just put a set of LTX-MS2s on my Tacoma about 6,000 miles ago and I love these tires ... super in the rain ... :D

Had the LTX-AT2s and liked them a lot ... but I believe that I like the MS2s even more ... .:D

Digging up an excellent thread for those who might not have seen it...and also any other specific experiences with adverse conditions.

I recently replaced my stock dueler's with 25K miles on them for the M/S2's. I never really had any problems with the duelers and they got me through the snow/rain that we get here in the mid-atlantic region in 2WD. However, I'm looking forward to getting even better performance from the M/S2's.

Well I have 42K miles on the original Dunlaps (lousy tires btw) and plan on getting the MS/2's, or maybe the Costco version of them, the X-LT2's. Couple of quick questions though...

I have the 245/75/R16's and the one tire shop said the only reason to go with the 265/70/R16's would be for aesthetics and that I'd lose a little snow and wet traction. While a slightly wider tire would be nice, aesthetics would really be going to a bigger tire to fill in the wheel wells, not to mention not getting an AT type tire. Any other compelling reason for going to the wider tire?

Also, anyone use the Costco version, the X-LT2 in the 245/75/R16 size. I was told the tread pattern is slightly altered but fundamentally the same tire. They are also running a sale of $70 off, so can pick up a set for $650 after rebate vs. $750 after rebate for the same size MS/2's.

You've got it pretty much spot on. I personally like the look of the 265's better than the 245's but there isn't going to be much performance difference at all. The wholesale club version of the tire is still pretty much the same so I'd say definitely worth saving $100 if you can do it. I love my ms2's, great tire.

i have the 245/75/R16 (not the costco version) LTX MS2s have put about 15,000 miles on them and love them. they are solid sticking tire, wet, snow, and dry. inspire lots of confidence in a platform as sketchy as a pickup truck.

id opt for a taller skinnier tire rather than the fatter shorter one. i dont think the stock size will look 'sunk in' by any means... mine do not. these things are highway machines, so QUIET!!!

I use my truck in the sand. Not enough sand to warrant deflation but I park in beach spots to surf. LTX MS2s suck in the sand. They get loaded very quickly. In hard sand they are fine. But I've had to use 4x4 a few times to back out of my parking spot in soft sand.

I'm not spending any significant sand time to require the use of another tire though. Esp for Just a few times a week and only briefly to "pull up and park". I wanted the quietest and most sticky highway tire.

I finally bit the bullet yesterday and bought the Michelin 245/75R16 MS2's for my 2012 dcsb 4x4 sport. 2 winters sliding around on the Dunflops were scary enough for me. I'll see how they work in a couple months on the snow.

Last month, I went with 265/70R17 MS2's on my dcsb 4x4 Sport. Love them so far!

Once again digging up an old thread.

    2009 TRD Sport Doubcab
Driving style is 80% city / 20% highway. No off-road.
Western PA conditions (snow in winter months)
Replaced the stockers at 23K miles.
Put on Bridgestone Dueler REVO AT2's (265/70/17 - fits my 1.5" lift)
The Duelers looked great and rode much rougher - like a truck should.
The Duelers lasted 18K miles and are now worn down to 2/32.

Fortunately the Revo's had a 40K warranty and I'm getting new tires at a good discount (about 50% off).

I'm replacing them with Michelin LTX MS2 (265/70/17). Getting them put on this afternoon and hope they perform as well as the Revo's - BUT LAST MUCH LONGER!

Just replaced my 2k miles BFG AT's with a set of LTX MS2's. I am VERY happy with these tires.

I am in the Military and I have a 1984 Toyota Pickup that I am getting from a family member. Right now the pickup has the Michelin M/S. My Brother said they have been a great tire and would recommended them again. With me moving to Kodiak, AK I thought I would get the A/T2. I am not planning on doing any big time four wheeling while I am up in Kodiak. I just want something good in the Snow, rain, and for camping/hunting, I want something reliable. After reading what most people have said about the M/S2 being better in the snow and rain I am leaning more in the direction of the M/S2? Just wanted to get peoples information and input. I have my tire appointment next week.

Truly glad I found this thread, looking at either one of these tires and been reading up on them.

What's everyone's feedback on the rain? We just had some pretty nasty rain today and I did not appreciate the stock dunlops.

Appears either one would have a strong lifespan, for rain/water purposes, which one would you go with? Michelin LTX A/T2 or LTX M/S2

I've had the m/s2's a year now and they do really well in the rain. Especially over the dunlops. Traction control comes on significantly less and the ride and noise is better. I pretty much stay on surface streets with no off roading and that's why I got the ms2.

I've had the LTX A/T2 for several years, and in rain on high speed wet highway interchanges that introduce body roll, I feel like I am on rails.

I also used this thread while doing my research for new tires (thank you TW for the good info); I drive a '08 TRD off road access cab with a M/T. I had the stock BFG Rugged Trail on my truck twice....and after needing to replace them again in under 60k miles....I decided I really needed to do some research. By this time I had been introduced to Tacoma World by a friends neighbor who had a Tacoma so I knew there were options out there.

I also came down to the M/S2 A/T2 debate and decided to go with the M/S2's because of the warranty first and foremost. I have had them on for a few months now and can say I am getting better gas mileage (19MPG vs 16.5MPG) and the ride is so much smoother/quieter. I also feel the traction is way better in mud. As of now, I am not doing that much offroading as I was up north. All I am doing now for "offroad" is going down dirt trails to go hunting/shooting, but the other day I was in some mud and I didnt even touch 4wd. But I digress...for those considering tires in this debate, I can say the M/S2 was the right decision for me.

Maybe down the road I will switch over to A/T for offroading, because I will be moving back up to the northeast, but I am not there yet.

I still love my Michelin LTX M/S2's. (2011 Sport Double Cab 4x4) They work great in the Far East Phoenix Valley and pretty good in the off-road Florence Box Canyon area. They are quiet on the road and nice handling. Discount Tires will match Costco or anyones price and they give outstanding customer service on balancing and rotations.

I did for a couple of weeks have the Michelins AT's. They were great off-road, but a little rough and noisy on pavement. Discount swapped them for the MS2s.

PS: I've had under warranty, new Rear Springs, new Balanced Driveline, new Rear Transmission Mount, now no more "bottoming out" or driveline vibration or "Bump-from-Behind".

51,000 miles. Love my truck!... Walt
