I want to grease my drive shaft today. The owner's manual says I need Lithium-based grease that satisfies NLGI #2. So I bought some Pennzoil Pennlith Ultra EP-2. Will this do the trick? It's not synthetic, so I'm thinking I will be OK to add it to the factory grease - is this correct?

If that is the correct grease, how many pumps do I give each zerk fitting? Never done this before, so any help would be great. Thanks.

Holy moly Chris that was fast, lol. Thanks man. Is that type of grease OK for that application?

Are you talking about the u-joints? Keep pumping until you see good clean grease come out. Wipe off the excess...

For the slip yoke...a few pumps is good. I've pumped until I've watched the slip actually start moving. I don't even know if the 2nd gen trucks have a slip yoke zerk.... 1st gens do.

X2. I did mine about 6 months ago with some normal "non" special grease and it worked fine. Oh and even if you get the excess, you will still see splash marks after a drive around town. Don't sweat those, I already asked chris4x4 about it!!!:D

Like said before, grease until the nice clean stuff starts oozing. Wipe it up really good or it'll fling all over once your driveshaft spins.

I think some of our trucks don't have any zerks. I've looked all over mine meticulously and can't find even one. This might be exclusive to prerunners. Does anyone know about this? I've cleaned everything really well too so I'm sure I'm not missing them due to being covered up by dirt or grease.

This forum is cool... thanks for all the help. I will go ahead and grease 'er up. That will put an end to this weekend's putzing around (except a wash tomorrow).. trimmed my front mudflaps yesterday, installed some back-up lights and changed my air filters. Oh, and upgraded some wiring on my CB radio. I love long weekends.
