oh and I turned in my man card a long time ago...13.5 years ago to be exact

 

Took the class required for my CWL, now I need to do the fingerprinting and app with the state. Hopefully it doesn't take 90 days to get it.

So think of it like this: horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you move the wall when you hit it." I was always told horsepower gets you to the wall Torque gets you through it...Torque is the muscle how strong it is and horsepower is how fast it can go.

Torque is how much power the motor makes, horsepower is how quickly you can use that power.

 

More expensive isnt a falid point. They get way better gas mileage. Its like saying buying a 60k hybrid will save me money because it gets better gas mileage then a 20k car

 

But Mike its the best prius repellent in the world

 

I understand wanting more torque, but that's a huge premium to pay in a mid size truck that wont be towing large loads.

Current price of gas - 3.29
Current price of diesel - 3.91

Tacoma highway mpg - 25 mpg
To break even, you would need to get 29.75 mpg from a diesel. This is assuming Toyota offers a diesel at the same cost as the current lineup.

For comparison, fanboys are having a field day with the new eco diesel from dodge, gets 28 mpg, while the standard gets 25 mpg.

I'm OK with less torque, and if the next argument is "well you can drive a diesel forever" look at Josh. Hes got 200+k on his 1st gen and beats the hell out of it when we go camping.

I would rather just have a v8 than a diesel and I loved my duramax.
