Do you plow with your 2nd Gen? Show it off!

That's really sweet

 

This is the 1st year I've been able to keep it open this long. The end of the driveway is on a narrow dirt road with lots of shade. The plows dump everything into the end of the driveway. If we get 15" of wet stuff I may not even try to plow and if it freezes up before I get there I'm screwed. Here's what it looked like on 3/29/11 after a backhoe hacked its way in. Those blocks of snow are hard and heavy.

Can you post of pics of the truck mount and the plow mount. I'm really considering this plow. How much did it run you?

 

I've been looking at a Sno-way, maybe once the truck is paid off. I'm tired of walking behind a blower and getting coated.

 

I know nothing of plowing with a truck, but I saw in a recent catalog that DR Powertrimmer has a plow now, and the Tacoma is their photo vehicle.

No one would sell me any. Then I saw the black helicopters.

All the install pdf's are available on the Meyer website. They will give you a much better idea on how it's mounted. Mine was about $4,000 total.

That unit looks quite light duty. If your needs are light it might be fine.

We got about 16" the other day. My Meyer worked great. I'll get up to camp tomorrow where there was a little more snow and a little more time for it to pack down. If I can get through the bank at the end of the driveway I'll be fine.

 

That...I would not buy that.

That might work if you live in Atlanta and your idea of snow is 1".

Just go get a SnoWay 22 or a Meyer DrivePro like everyone else here, and call it a day. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!

a taco doesnt seem like an ideal plow truck.

how do they handle? do they get pushed around a lot when you start hitting some deeper snow?

 

If you go fast you can get pushed around.

I plowed my road because the county didn't do it, and once you hit 20-25 mph that heavy slush made by the traffic can really jerk you around.

10 mph in fresh fall, or ramming stacks back, is no problem though.

 

cool. yea im used to plowing with 4 yard dump trucks and 10 wheelers and they can get pushed around with a full load of sand sometimes haha

I have a Sno-Way 6'8" plow on my 2009 IL4 Taco and have to say that both the truck and plow performed very well! I'm in Long Island NY and we had tons of snow this winter, I was out plowing every snow fall!

Have to say, I was very impressed in the trucks plowing performance!

PS: No modifications to accommodate the snow plow, all stock.

Refinished Fisher HS Series, not HomeSteader. This is a 6'6'' Steel blade that was converted from a three plug system to the modern two plug with FishStick controller.

Does a great job, but I think I will be adding a back scraping blade in the future.

I was really considering a Fisher setup for my truck when I bought it, but opted for a dedicated plow truck to save the wear and tear on my DD. Picked up an old Dodge for about 1/2 of what the plow setup for the Tacoma would have run me, and that frees up the Tacoma for the GF to take to work when the weather's crappy (having her driving my truck with 4wd, traction control, Duratracs, and a 5-star crash test rating is much better for my stress level when it snows than when she was taking her Honda Fit)

 

I want to get a plow, but wonder what toyota would say if a drivetrain problem occurs, even if it wasnt plow related.

 

Just installed my boss sport duty plow.

 

Does anyone know how easy the coupler would be to remove? If it's just a few bolts I might consider just completely removing it in the summer when I want to start wheeling....

Then again, a rust-bucket 2500 single cab might be the ticket instead....
