What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

yea thats what there ran up north when i was there. Think they just switch to a new company, not rigid. Can't say i blame them. Rigid is stupidly overpriced.

 

How is Vision X any cheaper? I thought they were just as, if not more expensive than rigid?

 

Nah they are cheaper. Not a ton cheaper. but still cheaper.

 

I voted Frank least likely to achieve escape velocity.

 

I see a lot more government and law enforcement vehicles with vision x. Not sure if it's cheaper or they just drop prices lower for them

J/k I get 18.2 in mine and that's after I decided 65 mph to work was better than 70-75, which only got me 17 mpg. More beer money now.

 

We rock the hell outta rigids. Each work truck has minimum 4x d2's, mine even has little light bars cause we had em laying around as well as d2's

 

I meant you must accelerate responsibly and stuff. I usually do about 7 over the limit

Put on the new Fox smoothies I got. I made shock hoops for them outside the frame, welded them up myself using just an angle grinder and a basic Lincoln 140 welder. I'm pretty stoked with how they came out

 

Do you have wheel spacers on the rear? Going to be interesting if you ever go larger tires...

What a PITA. This is one of those things I look at and say "ok this looks hard, let me see what the forums say" and I see some guys say "yea not too hard. whole job took about 30 min." WTF?! This speedo cable was routed from the transfer case, behind the cat converter head shield through 2 brackets, up the firewall through a bracket behind the insulation, then up through a bracket/hole in the firewall. Not to mention having to rip apart the dash/cluster to get to the back of it.

Any idea if a new cable comes with all the crap already on it (like the insulation and brackets) ?

Also, how big of a deal is it if I don't put this firewall insulation back on?

It was a pain to get off and I ripped it in half pulling the cable out.

Yeah thats what I was worried about when building them. When I flexed it out before I installed them there was about a fists width between the frame rail and the tire (3-4" maybe). I'm running 1.25" wheel spacers and it clears fine, only thing that could be a problem is like Brent said going with wider tires. The widest I will go is 285 with this setup, and with the correct BS rims coupled with the wheel spacers I think they should be fine
