Crumpler makes some nice stuff. My only complaint about their bags is the aren't as efficient as you'd like.

Great company, products are really well built and probably one of the best things about them is they don't look like camera gear.

I tried a pre-production strap similar to that a while back. Pretty nice the way it carries the camera. Comfy and spreads the load nicely.

Yup, the strap is perfect, I also have their 5MDH bag and liked it a lot UNTIL I got a ThinkTank Retrospective haha now I'm going to sell the 5MDH.

I have a few bags from them. But I carry a Loka now (F-Stop Gear) and have since they came out. Great bag.

I've heard that name dropped quite a few times. I've never handled one myself.

If you carry a lot of gear or a pro body, probably not the best (at least the back packs). I have a Brazillion Dollar Home that I store stuff in. And a back pack I use only occasionally (Karachi Outpost).

    Lots...see build
Got it! Ate my last bagel this morning, looked at the bag, thought...I wonder if this would work? Perfect length!
Needs some slight modifications (hole for eye piece, tape around lens) but I think this'll work. Someone said bring a towl, too, so I'm definitely doing that.
    Thanks again!

See if you can work the camera w/o cutting more holes. One should be enough.

Also, watch for puddles in the bag.

I don't have any pro gear, pack as light as possible and am looking at a mirrorless future one day haha definitely not the pack for me.

You'd be the perfect candidate for a Crumpler back pack.

I'm more of a sling style satchel thing person just for ease of access. The only thing I may want an actual pack for would be a hiking/camping trip where I'm putting a lot of miles on and have other gear I want to bring.

I actually added that one to my wish list, but I'd prefer something that doesn't attach to the tripod mount... kinda' eliminates the purpose of the tripod's QR if I have to remove the strap and install the QR... especially for something like Carlsbad Caverns where I'll be walking all day, but will also be using the tripod or a monopod frequently.

I guess I could come up with an alternative attachment.

That is one of the reasons that kept me from getting a sling. Although they do have ways around it such as the JOBY UltraPlate

I prefer a harness for weight distribution although I do have the OP/TECH Classic Strap-Uni Loop neck strap and it works well. The attachment system allows a hand strap, neck strap, or harness. In the winter need a little more protection than the camera flopping around especially on snowshoes. I use a monopod ball head for my right hand pole. For carrying in the woods I wear the Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 50 using the Digital Holster Harness to carry it on my chest. Keeps it out of the way of poles and trees but still has very easy access. Most game is not going to wait for you get a backpack off and dig a camera out so although I likely look like I'm carrying a papoose feel it is the best solution in my situation. When it warms up I will switch to the OP/TECH harness system.

You can get them for $5 off of ebay.

Definitely a useful tool. Not one you'll use all the time.

Had to make some money yesterday and put in some work. At least I was able to work from home in my pajamas. :D

Found a very nice Case Logic backpack at Fry's for $120. I've got it loaded up and it carries everything I had in my shoulder bag, plus my Lightsphere, and there's still room for either another shorter lens, or I can get my filters out of the "wallets" and properly stack them.
    http://www.caselogic.com/en-us/us/p...r-cameralaptop-backpack-_-slrc_-_206_-_black#

It's actually big enough that if I swap the 18-55 kit lens for the 200-500 Tamron as the lens normally mounted to the body, I could fit all of my glass if I leave the SB400 out.

But the 200-500 is such a special purpose lens (I rarely attend sporting events) that I don't see the need to carry it around 24/7, when the 70-300 will do 90% of what I might need a long lens for. I'd rather just keep the big tele in its own case with the Teleconvertor clipped to it (since anything under 500 is covered by one of my other lenses, I would never use the TC with anything other than the 200-500).

For vacations, I can always keep the 200-500 behind the seat in case an opportunity for a long shot presents itself, otherwise, it can remain safe in my closet.
