    ohh haha

You could if ya wanted to..Jason did for a while, then when he checked his rotors on his, they were scored real bad from sand getting in..so he just runs normal filters.

I have an AEM dry filter i use that works nice.

^Ok, so you can just use the stock intake and filter? If that's ok, that's what I'd do/

    Well, the deal fell through.

I'll just focus on building the rear bumper instead.

So, I'll probably do it in tube, like my front. I drew the design up on my whiteboard at work and it ended up looking like the love-child of an All-Pro bumper and Box Rocket's. (Even though I hadn't looked at their designs at the time) Basically, there will be 2 tubes parallel to the ground in back. The lower one will bend around the side, just below and outside of my rear quarter. The upper one will be shaped to emulate the "rear step" of my stock bumper in back but will also bend around the side. Those two will be tied together. I'll use a verticle piece in back to support my swingout. The swingout will have a tire carrier (of course), a horizontal support for my hi-lift, and a modular jerry can attach point. I want to be able to carry 0, 1, or 2 cans on there. When I don't have the cans on, the mounts will be removable with pins. Finally, it will be able to receive my removable winch plate, so I can winch in either direction! (my favorite feature) I can go on and on, but that's the basic idea.:tinfoilhat:

I'm in the same boat as you. Luckily, all my buddies out here have welders!:)

^True, about the garage. I wish I had parts waiting for install, though!

So I have to ask, where did you get the tube to do the front bumper and did you have access to a tube bender? I want to do a bumper very similar to yours, but I am really not feel like spending $600+; at least not when I can enlist the help of my welding friends.

    ^Hey Trailbikerider,

I got the steel tube from a local company called EMJ, where I have an account. To bend the tube, I used a JD squared manual tube bender. It was a kind of a two man job to bend the tube with that bender...

If you have any questions once you get into the project, feel free to post up over here!

    I just picked up a Miller 180 :D

Do you think you could help me out with acquiring some tube and bending duties in a few months? I am going to building plate front and rear bumpers, and want to do a hoop on the front. I am also thinking about some rear shock hoops.

I'm going to attempt to fab up a bumper this summer, and I really liked the design of yours. I'll see what happens and I'll get a hold of you if I have any questions.

EDIT: Also, what size steel tube did you use?

    Hey man,

I think we can work something out. The bender belongs to a friend of mine, but if we're already bending tube for my rear bumper, we can just throw your stuff in the mix.

What kind of tube are you looking for?

Thanks for the compliments on my bumper! I have to say, I think building your own is the best way to go. You can incorporate unique features, and the fitment will be perfect when your done. As for tube, I used 1.75", .090 wall DOM for my front. There are some who would say that you'd need at least .120 wall, but I wouldn't say so. I have beaten on mine for a few years now and haven't even dented it!

^Yeah, Timmy, I've winched off of it more times than I can count in a variety of situations. I've winched through snow (~33") and over rocks and haven't had any issues. That being said, the real strength comes from the bumper design. BUT, it's hard to make a tube design that won't hold up. (vs plate)

Probably whatever you have been using for yours, .090 should be fine and keep the weight down. If I do the shock hoops, not sure. I would need to see what size would fit under there and then look at what kind of strength would be needed. If I could get in on some tuning and bending that would be sweet, just let me know when you are planning to get it done.

That sounds pretty good. I'll let you know when I'm ready to order the tube. I'll probably get 40ft for myself... let me know how much you want. I'll talk with my buddy some time over the next week and see how a timeline shapes up.

Sounds good, all I would need is enough for the single hoop, so I would say maybe if you could measure how much you used for yours and then add a few feet for good measure.
