Maybe call insurance, and don't give them information to ID you in particular, but give the motor is shot, and ask if they would cover it. If they can't trace it back to you, then they can't say you have a blown motor and they won't cover it.

why would you want a 5 liter? if you really want to save for a different motor, save for the 3ur-fbe. that is the 5.7 from tundra except designed to run e85.

Two of the cylinders are reading low for some reason. I pulled the engine back in 2007 from a running truck but its been in storage for a long time. I'll have to pull it apart and see what's going on. I'm hoping it's nothing major but i don't feel comfortable offering him the engine at this point. I am still offering to do a free install for him and I'm the one that informed him of the serial check. Can't really trust anyone these days.

 

I wonder if the rings are carbon-ed up and blowing by?

I wonder if you could spray some foaming carb cleaner in those 2 cyl as a test - see if the comp comes back up?

 

x2! Seriously good advice. This guy is still trying to sell it to me...said the shop that swapped frames screwed him over and wasn't supposed to swap engines. He said the one for sale is actually from his 2011 w/ 32k...

Got to enjoy a little bit of the snow up in Eugene today. Wished I had a closed parking lot to play in.
If anyone needs drive line work done, Drive Line Services of Eugene definitely got my respect today. Called at 1130, they started building my drive line without having me prepay. Drove up, dropped off my slip yoke at 2 and at 330 I had a finished drive shaft done for only $252. $100 less than what a the shop in Roseburg quoted me a week ago when they were suppose to build it.
