I've always wondered about snooze alarm people. My wife is one. She sets the alarm for 45 minutes before she needs to get up and hits the damn snooze button 4 or 5 times before actually getting up. I've put up with it for 23 years so I guess I'm just an enabling spouse. Her reasoning is she can resume her dreams while waking up slowly and peacefully.

My reasoning is why resume a dream when you could just finish it in the first place and get another hours sleep as well? Set the alarm for when you need to get up and just do so. To Simple I guess. I figure she has deprived me of approx. 5980 hours of good sleep in 23 years. 1' x 5 days a week x 52 weeks a year x 23 years. She wonders why I'm grumpy sometimes.;)

I'd like a poll on what kind of morning riser (keep it clean Missileman:rolleyes:) everybody is.

    1. Do you hit the snooze several times before getting up?
    2. Do you get up when the alarm goes off?

    Hehe..morning riser...

Oh ok, I set the alarm a few minutes before I know I need to actually get up and going so If I wake up and want an extra 5 minutes I have them, but thats about it, I usually just give myself that 5 minute window.

    Keep it clean?
I actually set the clock and get up. In fact, I turn it off after two or three beeps. My wifey will lay there 15 minutes after her alarm goes off. I can't do that. Just get up!

i use my phone and it has three alarms. i sill set them at different intervals up until time to actually get up. I actually have a scientific reasoning for it. there are 4 cycles of sleep plush REM sleep for a total of 5. the higher the cycle the deeper the sleep. if you wake up during cycle 4 or REM sleep you wake up groggy and tired. if you wake up during cycle 1 or 2 its much less harsh on your body. you constantly cycle through the cycles all night long so there is no way to guarantee you will be in a low cycle when your alarm goes off. but if you alarm goes off and you're tired and groggy, then you go back to sleep for just 5 or 10 minutes, you dont have time to get to a deep cycle so you re-wake up at a lower cycle, meaning your less groggy than when you woke up the first time. Even though this method works i'm still late for work every single day....

although i want to kill people that sleep through their alarms for any length of time. i use to have a room mate that slept really deep and woudl let his clock beep for 10 minutes before waking up! i use to scream and bang on his door all the time

In cold weather I hit the snooze once, go light the gas heater in the bathroom, then get back under the covers until the clock goes off again at which time I hit the shower.

4X4 -:amen:- I'm like you, just set it and get up.

BUT...my wife pulls the same crap about setting it really early. She sets the alarm clock for about 30 min early, and uses the snooze 2 or 3 times. She also sets her phone alarm and hits snooze on that at least 2 times.

    IT SUCKS!

My girlfriends have never complained since it takes less to wake me up than anyone i know. i can have my phone on vibrate on the carpet next to the bed and the second it vibrates it wakes me up and my ladies never even hear it. i have some serious sleep issues so i take ambien and sometimes valium and occasionally a night cap... as you can probably tell from my "idiossots" thread...

    getting there....
i used to hit the snooze button alot, then get up at the very last minute. now, my wife turns off the alarm, makes coffee while im laying there getting an extra 5 minutes of sleep:rolleyes:, then i get up finally. i absolutely hate mornings(unless they involve getting up early for hunting, fishing or disc golf). and now, alot of the time.....im already awake before the alarm even thinks about ringing.......one of our cats thinks 5 am is dinner time!!

Mine too. She uses the snooze about 3 times. I dont know how, but I seldom hear it. I've tuned it out some how.

I actually wake up before the alarm, just because I've been doing it for so long, I would say I have a sleep disorder, I am what you would call a LITE sleeper. The slightest noise and I am awake, then find it difficult to fall back a sleep. I'll get up and read or surf, take my shower, go out to an all night diner and write in my journal. Kind of messed up but I get a lot done sometimes.

I'm a snoozer. I've even slept through my alarm clock for over an hour before. Sometimes, often actually, I'll shut off the alarm clock without ever waking up. My wife hates it........tough titties, I've always been a real deep sleeper.

I'm a heavy sleeper, but I always leave my blinds open, so I wake up with the sun everyday, except in the winter, where I gotta be at work at sun up, at which point I'm a snoozer! Kinda weird eh!

I am an extremely light sleeper but i have no problem getting back to sleep once i wake up. my biggest problem is that it takes over an hour for me to fall asleep once i lay down, even when i take ambien. i dont think its working anymore

Hey, new member, thought I'd jump in. I am a very deep sleeper, have fallen out of top racks and bunks and kept sleeping. Have even had full on conversations with people that i don't remember being a part of. So yeah, i sometimes hit the snooze without realizing it. i caught myself mid-act one morning  as i was subconsciously lifting my arm and slamming the snooze. Have been late many times for work, am also in the navy:frusty: so it hurts bad every now and then, because i don't even hear my alarm going off. Sorry to my room-mates for prolonging the ringing of my alarm by sometimes more than an hour.
