I'll probably go with Bud Builts, but if you're interested RCI is doing a 20% off sale this week.

 

for IFS, both powder coated and transfer case skid, bare metal, all pro is 10$ cheaper at 568$.

 

there's a difference between used and abused.

4 year old all-pros, used a lot. probably on their 10th coat of paint

 

yeah, i've been following that, but what i like about the budbuilts is they have recessed bolts. i sit lower than most of y'all and have this weird thing about shearing off a bolt head. maybe it's just me. that and i like the product description on the budbuilts: " Rocks, stumps, and lesser vehicles have nothing to catch on". call it the humble part of me.

exposed bolt heads are bad news.

 

i also like how the bud built makes it a true fll length skid versus the recessed transmission plate on the all pro. i think that's the tipping point. i'll just do the front half now and then rear later.

 

I didn't care for the exposed bolt heads, but they do have welded washers around the heads to keep them from shearing off. The cost of the RCI skids with the discount was $550 shipped.

I still think I could mock up a set of skids with cardboard and have someone cut and bend the parts for me cheaper than a set of anything that's on the market now. It just takes time.

 

now if i could find someone with a budbuilt coupon code.....

Couldn't you just turn the transmission skid over?

 

Actually I was going to try this and see if I can make it work.

Give Bud a call and see if he'll do a group discount. I'm in the market for the skids as well. If we could at least get the shipping costs down that would help.

 

The overall terrible quality of Houston drivers is reason enough for me.
