What a 3 day fuckin weekend. After all was said and done...ended up with about a foot of snow with an inch of freezing fuck on top!

There was NO WAY I was missing brewfest so I made a trek 20 miles to get my momma to babysit our rugrat. Had to clear downed trees on way out there and again on way back (they were falling constantly). Then trekked to Eugene to brewfest. By the time we left, we had to take different side streets back home because trees were fallin while we were partyin!!!

Amazing clusterfuck of fun Friday thru Sunday.

Still got a bunch here but it's melting fast. Rivers and creeks look fun!!!

I will be getting more back than I thought. Made $5000 last year, getting $1100 back in my refund. Heck, Arizona is giving me $25 and they never even made me pay anything.
Hopefully I will be able to find a rad red front bumper to buy.

What a weekend to have my truck in the shop. I had to drive to Curlew from Seattle. There wouldn't be any opportunity to wheel this trip, so I was kind of glad to take the loaner Prius. I filled up the tank with only $35, drove over 2 mountain passes and still managed to use only $25 in gas driving 320 miles. Not bad, I thought.

On the way home, I got caught in some serious snow and was big time missing my Tacoma. Initially around Soap Lake, it was snowing sideways and drifts were blowing across the road making it very difficult to locate the lines in the road. The lines would be covered, then wind would blow the snow away enough for me to get a glimpse before getting covered again.

By the time I got to Ephrata, it was really starting to stick and get slick. Once I got onto I90, shit got 100x worse. There was a couple of inches of snow on the freeway and I only saw two 18 wheelers from George all the way to Easton - no other vehicles. Visibility sucked and the Prius sucked even worse. I had to navigate by road turtles and rumble strips during some parts near Vantage. Weird driving 40 mph through 40 miles of I90 without seeing a soul. I did have warm gear with me from having to wake up at -7 degrees in Curlew.

By the time I got to Easton, there was a 35MPH variable speed limit and chains required. It was 2AM, I didn't have chains and really didn't want to spend the night roadside in Easton so I went for it. The road was actually a pleasure compared to what I had been through near Vantage - 40 feet visibility with 2 lanes of freeway. Since there was zero traffic, I was able to stay in the center of the 4 lane freeway at 35MPH and get over the pass without issues. Man I missed my Taco.

We are DINKs as well. The government just needs all the money they can get.
Get aftermarket plate or tube bumper instead of factory

Wife and I started to get organized. We have a spot that we put all tax related papers throughout the year. Once we have everything, it is just a matter of pulling them all together and going through the process.

All of my business related receipts go into a folder/binder in my truck - along with a short note detailing what it was for..

Makes it so much easier to just take a day, make a spreadsheet - and send it to my accountant.

Nope. No word yet. They can keep it a while longer if they plan to fix it under warranty. It would be shitty of them to keep the truck for a week or two only to come back and tell me they won't fix it. Wouldn't put it past Toyota though. I've not seen anything yet to indicate the dealership is working in Toyota's favor instead of mine, but really just playing the waiting game.

that seems like a really long time to be handling things. For me, they found the issue and had it fixed in two days (including initial investigation) or so IIRC.

All you guys with your taxes, you realize the goal isn't to have a huge return, right? The money back isn't a jackpot (the term tax 'bonus' is a trick) - it's money you've worked for and loaned to the government, and they are giving you a small bit back as a 'thanks for the loan'. You are getting less through the year.
The goal is to break even - that way, you are giving the govt. the minimum, maximizing your income through the year, and minimizing your risk of tax owed.
Not saying you guys do this, but it also surprises me all the people who use their tax bonus as toy money when they have debt. Pay shit off people, you'd be so much happier! You'd also reduce all that money you are losing on interest!

I'm not trying to be a jackass about it, but I'm interested in everyone's best around here.

That's the reason I wish I wasn't. I used to have tons of cash saved with no credit cards. Only debt was my house and that's not even debt

To me, the tax refund is like a savings account, without interest. I pay in throughout the year, and get my overpayment back. I am not very good at saving money.

While I do have some debt, I still am getting tires with tax money. If I didn't have debt, I would probably talk it over with the wifey and get her another horse, and bigger stuff for the truck, like suspension, or other $1000+ items.

The hunt continues...been researching a few places.

This morning, I spoke to Erik @ EngineHaus in Gig Harbor. They specialize in Rebuilds for Yotas, but after reading some bad stories on T4R and UltimateSubaru, and also learning that 410 Auto Wrecking (Toyota only) stopped getting engines from them due to "quality issues", I don't think I will go with them.

I also checked with DieselToys this morning. They might have a brand-new engine next week. They are getting a new '14 Taco to do a 1KD-FTV conversion, and will be selling the complete 1GR-FE they take out. Price will be much higher than a rebuild/used engine, but it would be brand-new Toyota Spec.

I also called my insurance today to get a claim started. They should be calling me today or tomorrow to schedule an adjuster to come take a look.

Oh, I should be getting the carpet back tomorrow, so I can at least get the interior put back together.

Also found a pass.side Brake light from another member on TW that should be here this week.
