$300,000 debt to be a teacher? No. My mother is a teacher and it doesn't cost anywhere near that much.

Yeah, my mom didn't get a Master's. Bachelors through a community college haha

It can definitely be done for a LOT less.

Plus I'd rather have a job I like than make $100,000 a year doing something I hate.

I'm thinking about getting a teaching degree in History as a fall back plan.
Still nowhere near that much, but okay. $30,000 a year is different than saying $300,00 total for your entire college.

yea, agreed. it comes down to weighing the benefits of the school.

Yeah, but when you're getting a high school or elementary teaching degree where the degree comes from is less significant than most other careers.

I don't count living costs and food into a degree personally. That isn't going towards your degree, that's just life.

Books I can understand, the gf spends about $600-$800 per quarter.

I guess it just depends on where you want to go like you said. My mother had a scholarship to University of Texas and ended up not taking it because she got married. Would have been a better degree than the one she has now. But in the end with a teaching degree at a high school level or lower, it didn't really make a difference for her.

Anybody in college can work at the same time. Just depends on if you really want to or need to or don't have to worry about your expenses because your college, food and housing is already paid for.

My gf's parents both worked a full time job and her father has a Doctorate's while her mother has a Master's. It is definitely possible.

But while saying that, if your parents can afford to pay for your college and you don't have to work to pay for the things you need then that's definitely a much better situation to be in than having to work to pay for everything.

    you sir....

    do not understand..haha

masters and doctorate are easy to stretch out and work kinda at your own pace so of course you can get those. Plus half the time your doing it FOR work.

    undergrad...totally different.

if you want to graduate on time. Working is VERY hard to do and do well in school. Plus most the time you get a shit job that just barely pays the bills.

Mom and dad both worked through college as well. Neither have a bachelors or higher haha

Mom worked a full time job all through college except for maybe two separate months because she had my sister and I. Still finished in 3 years.

And no, I have no personal experience but know many people who have done it.
